Year 12 Study Skills Camp

In the second week of term, the HPSC Year 12 cohort set off to PGL Campaspe Downs Adventure Camp for their Study Skills camp.

With a mix of personal development sessions and practical activities, the student were kept busy for the 3 days and 2 nights they were away.

The aims of the camp were to develop positive working relationships between staff and students, for students to improve their study skills and to gain an experience into tertiary life.

Sessions included

  • Memory Skills
  • Improved VCE/VCAL learning
  • Results and Completion
  • Study Skills

Students also participated in a  fun range of outdoor activities, including

  • Flying fox
  • Canoeing
  • Raft building
  • Sports round robin
  • Initiatives course

It was a jam packed 3 days in which both the staff and students had a fantastic time. This camp is such a great start to the year, and will help enable the Year 12 Cohort to be successful in what will be the greatest year of their life.

Information Evening

During the evening the Senior School Team we will be providing the opportunity for parents/carers to develop greater insight into the VCE and VCAL Programs and how to support your student throughout the year to ensure they are working hard to satisfy all work requirements.

This event provides a fantastic opportunity for you to meet the newly appointed principal, Mr Wayne Haworth, Ms Georgianne Kios (Senior Sub School Leader), Ms Annie Lingard and Ms Catherine Glenn (Year 12 Student Learning Leaders), Mr Matthew Hayward and Ms Elizabeth Stefanatos (Year 11 Student Learning Leaders) and key staff who will be responsible for supporting your child’s learning. 

 

It is anticipated that all parents/carers will attend this Information Evening to ensure that you understand the expectations of students during these final years of school and to establish a collaborative partnership with members of the school community. Topics to be covered will include:

  • Introduction of key personnel
  • The College Values
  • Improving student learning through effective partnerships
  • The requirements of the VCE and VCAL program
  • Accessing and using Compass, including emailing teachers, checking student reports, booking Student Learning Conferences
  • Student Wellbeing / Careers

There will be Multicultural Education Aides available on the night to assist with translation if required.
