‘Open Gardens of Winchelsea’

On Sunday 13th November, Hesse Rural Health held a fundraiser in the form of five beautiful open gardens, each with their own historic charm. The event raised over $25,000 to go towards a new accessible Hesse Coaster bus for the aged care residents who rely on the vehicle to stay connected with the community, as well as access the support they need.

Tensions were high throughout the week before as the weather forecast predicted cold and wet conditions, quickly proven wrong that morning when the sky was clear, bright and delightfully warm.

Close to one thousand people visited the gardens, called Murdeduke, Chittering, Narwee, Coome Cottage and Calluna. People of all ages and places came to support Hesse  Rural Health and enjoy the wonderfully kept gardens, each with their own unique features.

The day provided a superb chance to get away from the normal weekend routine and delight in nature’s beauty, all for a worthy cause!
