Breakfast Program Celebrates 10 Years!
On Thursday 30th November CSC celebrated with Meriba Service Club for their involvement in the weekly Breakfast Program for 10 years!
In 2012, the program started with a two slice toaster and a small frypan on a table in the corner of the locker room. At that time the program was offered to only Year 7 and 8 students. It quickly became evident how popular, valued and enjoyable a program like this could be so it was extended to all year levels.
A move over in to a bigger kitchen space and the ‘Breaky Room’ was created! Through the 10 years of the Breakfast Program we have had the wonderful volunteers from the Meriba Service Club of Colac on board. These ladies come in each week, in pairs and assist with the general duties of the Breakfast Program. They assist in set up, cleaning up and most importantly cook the delicious sourdough toast that we have so generously donated from Irrewarra Sourdough Colac.
Many students reflect that this program is a highlight of their week and isn’t just about the food, but about seeing friendly faces. The partnership with Meriba has been so successful due to the ladies' tireless commitment and dedication to the young people of our school community.
We want to sincerely thank each of the volunteers from Meriba who have taken time to help in any way over the last 10 years at CSC. We truly value your support and look forward to many more years buttering toast together!!
CSC would like to take this opportunity to thank the businesses who donate to the Breakfast Program throughout the school year. Without your assistance and generosity, we might not be able to provide our students with the program that we can.
We thank the following supporters of the CSC Breakfast Program:
- Irrewarra Sourdough Colac for their weekly donation of sourdough bread
- Woolworths Colac for their regular contributions of long life goods
- Bakers Delight Ocean Grove for their regular donations of baked goods and special treats
Eat Up Program
Otway Rotaract Club provide CSC with sandwiches as a part of their ‘Eat Up’ program.
Each term, a dedicated team of hardworking volunteers make sandwiches ready for toasting. These are frozen and kept for students who may have forgotten their lunch, or may have limited access to food.
Thank you Otway Rotaract Club for your ongoing donations - this is a wonderful initiative that CSC is proud to be involved in.
