It’s less than a month until Christmas, which means people from Colac and Elliminyt are setting up their Christmas lights for the yearly Lights Competition! The previous winners have been able to maintain their titles for the past few years, as they have done an amazing job!
These are the winners for the past two years:
In 2021, 4 Banksia Drive came in first and won a massive $750! Second was close by in 6 Tulloh Street and won a further $400 with People’s Choice winner being 17 Armstrong Street.
A bonus win of free ice cream from a Bulla truck in Lockdon Street.
In 2020, first place was 6 Tulloh street (2 years in a row, wow) winning another $500! In second, Banksia Drive winning $300! And lastly in third a further $100 was given to 8 Wheal Street.
These competitions have not run for very long but they’ve picked up popularity quite quickly with houses putting up lights just to participate or even just for the fun of it and to entertain the local community.
