Transition to 2023

Welcome to the end of the year!!

Our staff have been busy working together to hand over information from the current 2022 teacher to the classroom teacher for 2023.

We have also had Data Days where the new 2023 year level teams have met together to unpack the English, Maths and Wellbeing data in preparation for our Planning School Closure Day this Friday 2nd December.  It has been a great opportunity to meet with the new teams and discuss our students needs and recommendations for planning. I thank our staff for their discussions, questions and dedication to these days.

Writing

Our 5/6 students have been busy writing free verse poems in literacy.  Check out some of their creations:

I feel as if I have been swallowed by a huge pile of daisy’s, each one scented with the morning breeze and grass.

This feeling sounds like a bunch of fireworks cracking up and away until they burst with a bunch of beautiful vibrant colours lighting up the sky with their own sparkle.

My mood suddenly changes and I am no longer thinking negatively.

All the bright sides of every situation start to beam through my thoughts cleaning all the worries of the negative sides from my head.

A smile came across my face and my eyes opened wide.

All of a sudden, I’m happy.

The Trenches

Death spreads along the line like a plague wiping the land of these once loved ones,

boredom hits the soldiers harder than a bullet to the head while they wait till the next rain of bullets lands upon them. The trenches feel like a flooded river turning their feet into a lump of slime, the diseases are more deadly than a gun pointed at your head. This once beautiful forest has now turned into a muddy wasteland, crater holes spread across the land, mountains of bodies of the unknowns lie there forgotten, the wounded whine for help tucked away. The rats spread throughout the trenches feasting on the bodies, some as big as a cat. Red spreads over the land, not poppies, the blood of these school aged soldiers, their futures now but a hope. The family's wait in anxiety to hope that one letter doesn’t arrive at their front door.

Shall we not forget the unknown who lie in the fields who lie there in silence, lest we forget.

Shall they rest in peace and glory. These are the ones who gave their life for me thanks be to them.
