EXTRAORDINARY SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY

MOVING DAY - MONDAY 12TH DECEMBER

Dear Families,

This is the final newsletter for 2022 as school finishes next week on Friday 16th December, 1:00pm.

After two years of interrupted schooling, we have been blessed to complete a full year onsite and although the year has presented us with many challenges, the completion of our new building being one of them, I am so very proud of everything we have accomplished together.

Thank You

Thank you to the St Michael's families for your wonderful support throughout this year, it has been unwavering, as has the trust you place in us. Our community is a special place because of each of you who contribute to it. I look forward to your continued support in 2023. When we work together we can achieve amazing things!

To our St Michael's staff who have given their all this year to provide each child with purposeful and engaging learning opportunities. They spend hours researching and planning learning that addresses the needs of each child in their care and I know they are so proud of what each child has achieved this year. To those leaving our community, I once again thank you for your contribution to our community, you have each left an indelible mark on each of us.

I thank our School Advisory Council for their ongoing support and commitment to improving our school for all. Thank you to all parents who have assisted the school with events and fundraising, among other things your efforts have enabled us to provide our children with more musical and playground equipment.

But most importantly I thank our children, who have each given their very best this year. They provided us with so many joyous moments, our recent Christmas Carols being just one of them. Their enthusiasm and passion for learning continue to inspire and drive each of us to do our very best and to live our Mercy belief that we can be good today but better tomorrow.

I am so very privileged to be the Principal of St Michael's and blessed to be surrounded by such professional staff, amazing children, and supportive families. We have achieved so much this year and I know we can do even better next year.

Step Up Day

Today your child was involved in Step Up Day. On this day they met their 2023 class teacher and classmates. All class lists have now been finalised and no changes will be made. The teachers have put much work into determining these classes by taking into account academic and social-emotional needs, as well as friendship groups.

The children will bring home a letter informing you of the name of their new teacher. Once you have this information it is important you log onto the booking system for the beginning of the 2023 year assessment interviews scheduled for Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February 2023 to make a booking.

Student Reports

Your child will also bring home their final school report. Please take the time to read it with your child and celebrate with them all they have achieved. I know their teachers are very proud of each of them.

On Tuesday 13th December we have our 2023 School Awards Ceremony at 2:45pm and I invite you all to attend. At this ceremony we acknowledge children from each class by awarding the following two awards:

On Friday, December 16th,  we celebrate our End of Year Mass where we give thanks to God for the year that has passed, and celebrate the many wonderful events and achievements throughout the year. I invite all families to join us at this very special celebration which will be held at 10.00am.

On behalf of all St Michael's staff, I wish you all a very happy Christmas and every blessing for a healthy and happy New Year.  May the joy of the newborn Christ child come to each of your families and may you have a fun-filled holiday break shared with family and friends.
