Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

Last Thursday, students in Years 3-6 participated in the St Joseph’s swimming sports. The event was held at Crib Point pool and it was a day full of positivity, teamwork and students showing great stamina and persistence.

I was so proud of our students participating in events they didn’t think possible and encouraging all members of their house. Many thanks to our Phys Ed teacher Emily Reed for her excellent organisation of the day and to all parents who were able to come along and assist on the day.

Building community is at the heart of student learning and engagement. Students who feel a sense of belonging and connectedness to their community shine and flourish.

The environment we create together in partnership provides strong messages to our students that they are important and belong to a positive, caring and brilliant place of learning, discovering and growing.

At St Joseph’s we have many ways parents can become involved in our wonderful school.  This could be in joining the School Advisory Council, the social and fundraising team, maintenance team, volunteer in the canteen, or at our coffee chats or come into the learning communities and help students with their learning.

Sue Jackson our Deputy head of learning highlights the importance of having parents helping in the classroom  in her section of the newsletter. Please take the time to read how you can come and help in the classroom.

Every minute a parent becomes involved it sends a clear message to our students that their education is important and that we have a wonderful community surrounding, supporting and helping each child to grow.

Research shows that contributing to one’s community and being of service to others builds a positive sense of wellbeing so please come along and get involved in our wonderful school.

There will not be an assembly this week as our Year 6 students are participating in a day of leadership development. The ladies from House Spirit organisation are facilitating the day with students from St Joseph’s and St Mary’s. This day will focus on what it means to be a leader, the disposition you need and the strengths we have in our team. Students will collaborate together to come up with an inspiring action plan for the year.

As the saying goes “Alone we are strong but together we are stronger!” highlighting the power of collaboration. We strongly believe in reaching out and working with others to strengthen our design here at St Joseph’s. Whether this is as a system with Principal networks, leader networks or at professional development, collaborating with our Parish schools or working in partnership with local businesses and community groups  we learn and collaborate together to strengthen and  develop our design within.

We have a number of staff collaborating with many other educators Friday and Saturday at the Indigenous perspectives conference in Balnarring. We are extremely proud of our connection with Balnarring Preschool with the Bunjil next initiative.

Just a reminder we are looking for a canteen manager for 2023. Please forward applications to principal@sjcribpoint.catholic.edu.au. For more information please see the note sent on Operoo.

I look forward to a wonderful week of learning at St Joseph’s and invite all of our community to the Ash Wednesday liturgy this Wednesday at 2.20pm.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
