School Council Kings Park Report

Robotics - National Championships!

Our robotics teams just competed in the VEX National Championships in Sydney on the weekend. Thank you to John Breen and Ita Altas who accompanied Wyatt Suski from year 12, Taylan Ozmal from year 11, Emily Ward from KP year 10, and Riley Harris, Eliza Ermino and Alisua Toth from KP year 9 to the championships.

Over 170 teams competed in these championships with 35 teams in each of our team’s sections. Our first year team from KP did well to get into the quarter finals but ultimately had to settle for 8th place. The Delahey team unfortunately finished well down the list. However, an extremely rewarding experience was had by all, with many plans for what next year’s competition may bring.

Year 10 Formal

Great to see so many staff celebrating the success of our year 10 students and enjoying the moment before they become Delahey senior college students.

Year 10 Last Day

Year 10s enjoyed their last day at their junior campus with a bbq lunch and culminating in an assembly. The students were farewelled as they move onto Delahey Campus, enjoying a brief focus of how far they have come seeing photos from their time at Kings Park. An enjoyable day for all.

Solar Buddy Incursion

In late October all year 7 and 8 students had the enjoyable experience of creating a solar powered portable light for children in underdeveloped countries which are energy-deprived. It was an awesome STEM activity that gave all students the chance to contribute to a worthwhile global cause.

Year 10 Exams and Transition Program

These have been held over the past week and a half, starting the day of the formal and continuing through to last Friday. They were held at Delahey Campus and are another part of our transition program for years 10s as they move into their senior years. This week sees the Year 10s at Delahey starting next year with a Transition Program

Year 9 Exams

Year 9 Exams started Friday December 2 with English/EAL and Science and finish today (Monday December 5) with Mathematics and LOTE. We have these exams so that our students gain some experience in working under exam conditions, developing some skill in performing this task well. This is certainly a skill that will benefit them later in their school years.

Step Up Week

Step Up Week for our years 7 to 9 starts Tuesday Dec 6 and runs until Monday Dec 12. This is so our students get a head-start on their learning for 2023.

Year 6 to 7 Orientation Day (Tuesday 13 Dec)

Our new year 7s for 2023 will be attending an orientation day next Tuesday, and starting their journey with us.

Awards Final Assembly

A celebration of 2022 will be held on Friday afternoon December 9 from 1:45 until 3pm. Families of students receiving academic excellence and consistent effort awards have been invited to attend. We look forward to a wonderful event to signify the end of 2022.
