From the Classroom

Year 5/6 Cohort-Anzac Service 2023

As a 5/6 cohort, we have been researching and learning about the significance surrounding Anzac Day, which was reflected at our Miners Rest Primary School and Kindergarten service, held on Wednesday afternoon.

Anzac Day is a national event to recognise and commemorate the contribution of all those who have served Australia (including those who died) in time of war and in war‑like conflicts. To honour these Australian's, we shared pieces of writing with our Miners Rest community to reflect our feelings, thoughts and understanding of this significant event on our national calendar.

We would like to acknowledge the following children who made a notable contribution to our service:

Ruby H & Jet K our proud School Captains leading the service respectfully.

Felix M, Isla G, Levi W and Felix W for sharing their exceptional writing pieces.

Levi M who led our Welcome to Country.

Maylea M who read the Ode with poise and thoughtfulness.

Sienna RR & Mia J our School Vice Captains who had the responsibility of being our flag bearers and wreath layers.

We would also like to pay thanks to our Miners Rest community who joined us for the service today.

As a staff, we are very proud of all of our children who showed respect throughout our unit of work and school service.
