Congratulations on another fantastic term, Year 8!
So many wonderful events have taken place this term, I couldn’t possibly list them all! From visits from first grade Rugby League players to the WSU Justice Clinic – we’ve certainly been busy.
This term has been tricky with the introduction of the Yondr pouches; however, I can proudly say that Y8 have taken this challenge head on. Y8s understand the impact that mobile phones can have on their education and are striving to refocus on their learning. Phones are rarely an issue with Y8, and I will work hard to keep it that way.
We have also been focusing on attendance. Students are encouraged to attend more than 90% of the time. Did you know that a student being absent one day per fortnight adds up to 4 weeks of missed schooling per year! Over the course of their school life this is the equivalent of missing a year of school!
Several of our Y8 students sang in the Pulse Alive choir a few weeks ago! Our Y8s joined other JBHS students and students from across the state as they came together to perform in a magnificent spectacle in front of a crowd of thousands. I was so proud of Avril Danh, Cindy Luu, Gavin Limn-Ward and Gardenia Tupu for their involvement. It was a long day, but they represented our school and grade with pride.
I’m looking forward to finishing the term with our Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 5th April!
Have a fantastic holiday! See you next term!
