Our Learning - Clarity

St Brigid's School Learning

Over the last two years, Catholic Education South Australia has been focusing on the area of contemporary learning and the effective use of data in all schools. Catholic Education South Austalia engaged Dr Lyn Sharratt,  a highly accomplished practitioner, researcher, author, and presenter.  She is an educationalist from Canada, and works with schools all over the world. Her most recent research informed her book Clarity which has been the basis of our school's professional learning over the last two years.

Lyn Sharratt emphasises that there are fourteen parameters that are needed to improve teaching and learning in a school. One part of these parameters is questioning. Last term you would have received the lanyard with the questions you can ask your child, please keep referring to them when you talk about their learning. We also ask very similar questions when we walk into each other's classrooms and the students are developing a very good understanding of what it is they are learning and why they need to learn and how to be successful learners.

Students have used Bump it Up Walls, Learning intentions and Success Criteria to co-construct their learning. Each fortnight, I will write up about one aspect of our learning over the last two years and share our successes. St Brigid's School has been so successful in implementing Clarity into our school, Mrs Correll has been asked to present at the National Conference - Clarity Learning Fair on the 17th of June.
