From the Principal

Shannon Correll

Dear St Brigid's School Community,

We are excited about a very busy school year and how nice it was to see everyone again.

As a school, we have been concentrating on Lyn Sharratt's "Clarity" for the past two years, we have been very enthusiastic about our work. Our classrooms were visited by consultants from the Catholic Education Office, and they were quite impressed with our students and what they had been learning from our skilled educators. After their visit, Mrs. Correll has been asked to speak about the work we have been doing on June 17 at a national conference. Sharing our efforts as staff members and showcasing the projects our students have worked on are both privileges.

We have renewed our agreement with Community Hub Australia and will continue to run Bonnie's fantastic programmes as part of our commitment to interact with the school community. We also wanted to reach out to our families in new ways, so on May 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., we'll open the school library and host our first evening social gathering of the term. The library will be open so that you may check out books for your children, play some board games in our room, and meet up with friends over hot chocolate or coffee. We sincerely hope you'll help us out and help us meet some new families at the school.

Reminding you that we really do need to know if your child is not coming to school. This information is entered into our reporting system when we finish our morning attendance roll. When a student misses class for an extended period of time without giving us any notice, I am obligated to report the absences as truancy. For pupils who miss more than ten days of absences without providing the school with notice this term, I will write a letter home indicating the concern over the absences.

We know many families are now travelling and going on holidays which is very exciting for all involved. It is a school requirement that we complete some paperwork and work will be provided if you are going on holiday during the school year. Please come and see Leah for the paperwork at least a week before you travel to allow us time to prepare the work for your child/children.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with you and your family,

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning
