Colac Clay Target Shooting Competition

The annual Colac Clay Target shooing Competition is on Wednesday the 10th of May. Unfortunately, this is the same day as the Student Learning Conversations. We still want all of our shooting students to be given the opportunity to participate, so we are asking that parents/guardians take their child to the Colac Gun Club with their gun (no ammunition) at 9.30am for a 10am start.

The shooters will finish at approximately 2.30pm, and we ask that a parent/guardian can collect their child and their gun. We will have 2 staff members present all day to supervise and assist students.

Any questions please contact Jane Hawker at jhawker@tcc.vic.edu.au

House Cross Country

Our House Cross Country is on Tuesday the 9th of May.

It is an expectation that all students participate in the House Cross Country and support your House by running or walking. If you are unable to participate you will need to bring a note from your parent/guardian.

The top 8 runners from each age group will go through to the Greater Western Championships on Monday the 29th of May.

If you have any questions, please contact Mrs Hawker.

SSV Junior Coastal Netball

On Wednesday, April 5 two Year 7 and two Year 8 Netball teams attended the Coastal stage of the School Sport Victoria Junior Netball Competition.

The day consisted of a round robin format with each game played consisting of four 7-minute quarters.

Our 7 B side consisted of Mia Oates, Gabby Wheadon, Zoe Mitchell, Alexis Borch, Pippa O’Brien, Olivia Tomkins, Pippa Barren, April Langdon and Molly Hay. The girls played 4 games throughout the day.

They played great netball in their first game against CSC green which resulted in a big 22-0 win. They produced another big win against CSC purple, and they finished the day with 2 wins and 2 losses. Zoe Mitchell, Olivia Tomkins and Pippa Barren all displayed great netball throughout the day and as a whole the team worked well together to produce their wins.

The 7 A side included Addy Russell, Millah Rodger, Leah Kettle, Ashlin Tate, Isabelle Dent, Molly Fish, Georgia Fitzpatrick, Leni Laurie and Stella McGuane and they played in 5 games across the day.

They started the day strongly with a 39-0 win against CSC purple before going down to a bigger and more experienced Trinity Year 8 A side. The girls bounced back to defeat Lorne 42-1 in their third game and continued their winning streak with a 37-3 win against CSC green.

In their final game of the day, they played against the Trinity year 7 B team, and they ran away with the win which saw them finish with 4 wins from 5 games.

Molly Fish and Ashlin Tate were great throughout a range of positions and each girl in this side displayed excellent skills and teamwork throughout the day. This performance progresses them through to the next stage of the competition and we are very excited to see what they can achieve in the future.

The Year 8 B netball team had some late withdrawals for the day and consisted of Jess Williamson, Isla Casey, Remi Grennan, Emelie Daffy, Macy O’Brien, Emelya Milverton and Bronte Scott. The side played in 4 games throughout the day, which was a big commitment by the girls without having players on the bench for rotations.

The team started the day with a win against the Trinity year 7 B side and continued the good form in their second game, beating Apollo Bay. In their third game the girls played CSC yellow and produced some great netball to earn the win, before unfortunately going down to the year 8 A Trinity side. Jess Williamson and Isla Casey were strong all day, but all of the girls worked hard and produced some great netball.

The 8 A side consisted of Ruby Fountain, Luella Hutchinson, Sara Rongdit, Harmony Parker, Izzy Perkins, Issy Spence, Emmy Frith, Jess Dellar and Stella Uytdehaag.

These girls played in 5 games throughout the day and were dominant in every game played. They finished the day undefeated with their lowest winning margin 20 goals. They will now progress through to the next stage of the competition.

The level of skill and the work rate displayed by this team was extremely impressive. They are a highly skilled group of individual players who work exceptionally well together, and we are excited to see what they can achieve in this school netball season.

Well done to all four teams that participated on the day and good luck to our 7 A and 8 A sides in the next stage of the competition.

Year 7-12 Girls Football and Boys Netball - Coastal

Trinity’s junior, intermediate and senior girls football teams, along with the senior boys netball team attended the coastal competition day at Central Reserve.

The draw saw the junior and intermediate girls play 2 games of football each and the senior girls played 1 game against Colac Secondary College.

The junior girls started off the day with a game against Colac Secondary College and after a slow start the girls eased into the game, moving the ball forward at every chance. After applying some immense pressure, the Trinity girls overran the CSC team, winning 44 to 10. Some fantastic performances from Anna Rowland, Luella Hutchinson, Estelle Fanning, Emmy Frith, Isla Casey and Millie Seuren helped the girls get across the line.

Extremely pleasing performance by all players showing great team spirit and sportsmanship.

The junior girls also played off against the Trinity intermediate girls, giving them a scare. The girls were outsized and lacked the experience of the intermediate girls, but the juniors girls gave them a run for their money. Well done to the junior girls for their efforts against the older students.

The intermediate girls football team started their day with a game against Colac Secondary College. The girls had trained well in the weeks prior, and they were all very excited for the opportunity to put their training into use in a game.

The game started off in terrible conditions with a howling wind along with heavy rain, however, this did not dampen the girls' spirits and they all ran around with smiles on their faces.

Colac Secondary proved a tough opposition as both teams found scoring difficult due to the conditions. As the game continued the weather turned and allowed for a free flowing and exciting game to watch.

The second half resulted in the girls moving the football well and showing great skill. Trinity girls ran out winners 12.8 (80) to 1.1 (7), with 8 individual goal kickers showing a great team effort. The best players of the day were difficult to pick from, however, Olivia Roberts, Taya Scott and Emme Elborough all battled very hard in the midfield throughout the day.

In their second game the intermediate girls again produced good skills and teamwork against the junior Trinity team. Although the junior side were tough opponents, the intermediate girls were just too strong and ran away victors.

The senior boys netball team had a 6-quarter game against Colac Secondary College and the first quarter was a hard-fought battle played in the rain. Both teams struggled in the slippery conditions and a quarter time score of only 5 goals to 4 in Trinity’s favor reflected that. Luckily the rain stopped, and the Trinity boys settled in to the game. They produced an excellent standard of netball that was fast-paced and highly skilful which saw them run away with a very comfortable 49 to 15 goal win.

Trinity trialled lots of different player combinations over the 6 quarters and the versatility shown is a very promising sign and it sets them up well to be competitive in the next stage of the competition, which will be during Term 2.
