Athletics Update
2023 House Athletics
We ended up with the perfect day for our House Athletics late in Term 1.
The rain that was predicted didn’t arrive thankfully and it wasn’t too hot for our competitors.
The students that attended were entertained by some terrific performances on the track and in the field events. Novelty games was a huge hit in the middle of the oval all day, our music man Xav McGlynn kept the tunes pumping all day and our school band performed for us all in the lunchtime break.
And as if that wasn’t enough our BBQ and canteen crew kept us all very well fed and hydrated. The 'Smoothie Bikes' were also very popular.
It was fantastic to see so many students competing all day and we were particularly impressed by those students who put their hands up to help fill races and field events to take the place of the students that were absent and demonstrated fantastic House spirit, so well done to all of you.
I know that our House captains, who worked tirelessly all day to fill races on top of completing their own events, really appreciated the assistance from those students who helped fill the gaps.
Athletics day requires all of our Trinity staff working together to ensure that everything runs smoothly, it just couldn’t happen without them. So, a huge thank you from the PE department to all the Trinity staff for helping to make our day such a great success.
This year bragging rights go to MacKillop, they were clear winners, defeating the next closest house, Rice by over 300 points. McAuley were 3rd and Glowery was a close 4th.

Coastal Athletics
We were blessed with a beautiful day for our Coastal Athletics. The sun shone, the competition between schools was great and everyone involved had a very enjoyable day. One of the best things about our Coastal days is watching all of the students from Trinity, CSC, Apollo Bay, Lorne and Lavers Hill all interact together. Congratulations to all students who participated on the day.
Thanks to the staff that worked tirelessly all day, without any real breaks, to make sure everything ran smoothly, as well as our Year 11 and 12 Sport and Rec students who assisted with set up, pack up and the running of many of the field events.
The students who finished first in 100, 200, 400 and 800m track events and all field events, as well as those students who finished first and second in the 1500m and the 3000m track events, all go through to the Greater Western Competition, which will be held in Ballarat on Thursday the 5th of October. So plenty of time to practice.
