Check In Assessments - Year 4 and 6

During Weeks 5-6 in Term 2, students in Year 4 and 6 will participate in the Check-in assessment.

The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.

The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with a disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.

Tell Them From Me Survey - Years 4-6

In Term 2 our school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me student survey. The student survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them.  For further information please refer to the letter below.

2024 Opportunity Class Applications

Opportunity classes cater for high potential and intellectually gifted students. Applications are now open for 'Opportunity Class Placement in Year 5, 2024'.

Parents and carers can make an opportunity class application when their child/ren are in Year 4 and if successfully placed will attend the opportunity class (OC) in Years 5 and 6. Applications must be made online at https://shsoc.education.nsw.gov.au/. Applications close Monday 15 May 2023 (Term 2 Week 4).

Students that complete an OC application for placement in Year 5 2024 are required to sit an Opportunity Class Placement Test on Thursday 27 July 2023.

Please follow the link or refer to the attached brochure for further information.

2024 Kindergarten Enrolments

The school has to submit predicted Kindergarten enrolments for 2024. If you or anyone you know is intending to enrol a child for Kindergarten in 2024  at LPS and you have not already completed an 'Expression of Interest' on the website, please do so at your earliest convenience, this will support us in finalising student numbers required by the department.

Children can start Kindergarten at the beginning of the school year if they turn 5, on or before 31 July that year. All children must be in compulsory schooling by their 6th birthday.

Allergies: Student Lunch Boxes and Birthday Celebrations

We encourage families to keep food allergies in mind when packing their child/ren's school lunches. Many students have varied food-based allergies, including allergies to peanuts, dairy, gluten and egg. Some of these allergic reactions can lead to severe reactions such as anaphylaxis.

With COVID Smart Measures and child allergies in mind, families wanting to provide a birthday treat for their child are asked to either make a purchase through Mel’s Lunchbox (eg. iceblocks/individual cupcakes) or provide store bought/packaged cupcakes and ensure packaging detailing the ingredients is also provided to the class room teacher. If planning a birthday treat for your child please contact your child's classroom teacher to discuss if there are children in the class who may have a food allergy, to ensure no child is excluded.
