From the Principal

Term 3 Week 6 Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

Sports Day 18/09/2020

We are proceeding with our plans for Sports Day in a few weeks’ time.  Unfortunately due to COVID19 parents and family members will not be able to on site. The school is unable to manage such a large volume of visitors and will not be able to meet the COVID19 protocols. COVID19 measures have also meant there is no sausage sizzle or cake stall so students will need to bring lunch from home or order their lunch from Scootz café as they would on any normal Friday. More information about the day will be provided shortly.

COVID19 Update

We still have a cleaner onsite daily and are continuing to  promote good hygiene practices.

We encourage all staff and students to:

  • wash your hands regularly, particularly after using the toilet and before eating
  • use alcohol based sanitiser – place it at the gate/service entrance for each parent and child to use on arrival
  • establish hand sanitation stations around the learning space to reduce children accessing the bathroom at the same time
  • wipe down frequently touched surfaces
  • cover a cough or sneeze with a tissue
  • avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • if you are unwell, stay home so you don’t spread infections to others
  • consider getting the annual influenza vaccination.

Adults are encouraged to stay out of the main teaching areas during the school days unless it is absolutely urgent. Parents can still meet with teachers but this needs to be an organised meeting at an agreed time and date.

Parent Teacher Interviews

It was great to see so many parents and carers participate in the parent/ teacher interviews held over the last two weeks.  The limited face to face interactions between staff and parents made this year’s interviews even more important than normal. Much of the feedback from staff has been about how valuable an event  it was and that they enjoyed the opportunity to meet and discuss student learning. It emphasised that a child’s schooling is a partnership, and is all the  more effective when we work together.

Pupil Free Day

We have a second pupil free day later in the term on Monday 7th of September. The day will be spent with schools in our district examining students work to ensure there is consistency when assessing across different schools.

If you have any queries or concerns please contact me at the school.

Kind regards,

Kevin Kennedy
