Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Term 1

A very warm welcome to the new school year. As always, students and parents are required to regularly check the information published via the Especean, College Website, Team App or Daily Announcements to make sure they understand the details of matters related to SPC sport.

Below are some key dates I wish to bring to everyone’s attention:

  • Secondary House Swimming Carnival – Friday 12 February (Week 3)
  • ISA Swimming Carnival – Wednesday 10 March (Week 7)
  • Secondary House Athletics Carnivals – Tuesday 16 March (Week 8)
  • Secondary Winter Sport Trials – commencing from Wednesday 17 March (Week 8)
  • Winter Sport Internal Trials – Saturday 20 March (Week 8)
  • BLACK AND GREEN SHIELD: Rugby, Football and Tennis Trial fixtures – Saturday 27 March (Week 9)
  • Cricket and Baseball Presentation Night – Monday 29 March (Week 10); and
  • Basketball and Swimming Presentation Night – Tuesday 30 March (Week 10).

Summer Sport – Term 1

Swimming training resumed at the College pool last Tuesday morning. Please also know that all Baseball, Basketball and Cricket Sports training will recommence next week on Monday 1 February 2021, with fixtures scheduled to resume on Saturday 6 February 2021.

Please note that NDJCA Cricket and RHBL Baseball fixtures will resume this Saturday 30 January. More information on Year 7 Cricket will be made available to those students upon their return to school this Friday.

As mentioned at the end of last year, you will now be able to view the Summer Season Draws for Term 1 via Team App or the College website under the ‘Sporting’ page. (Once clicking the link, you can flick between the various sports via the tabs down the bottom). Please note that times and venues are subject to change right up to hours before the scheduled fixtures take place. This is for a variety of reasons, not least of all the weather. It is also important to note that TBA or TBC is not to be interpreted as being a Bye.

Uniform and Attendance

All boys should be well aware of where their team is playing each week and correctly attired for their match. Boys attending fixtures in support are also reminded to wear their supporter’s shirt and College shorts/tracksuit. If boys wish to wear a hat for sun protection, only the black College cap or white Greg Chappell style hat is to be worn.

Any requests for leave from training or games should be directed to Mr Fochesato or me in writing in advance.
