Remote Learning Update

At time of writing, I have no further information or updates on what the plans are for when and how remote learning will end.  We are under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer as we all are.

I fully appreciate the challenges that the stage 3 restrictions are posing.  With regards to our students' learning, there are three things that all students need to do:

  1. Check Compass daily, follow their normal schedule to complete the work that has been provided, attending Webex sessions when scheduled
  2. Submit work that has been completed and keep communications with their teachers - either through email, Webex or through the Compass Discussions
  3. maintain a healthy mindset - eating healthily, maintaining good sleep patterns, exercising and keeping in contact (as much as possible) with others.  Looking after one's physical and mental health has a massive impact on learning.

Students have heard me say this many times over the year - "you get out of life what you put in".  This rings true more than ever right now.  Every student needs to take responsibility for their learning, to grab the opportunities with both hands and to utilise the supports being offered.

Social Media

We have noted recently a bit of a spike in students putting in friend requests to staff members via social media.  DET guidelines do not recommend this.  It is to maintain the professional relationships between staff and students, respect privacy and to protect all parties.  Communication between students and staff - especially during remote learning, should be through the official school channels - Compass, email or via Webex.  Please support the school by discouraging your child from sending friend requests to staff members.

The school does have an official social media presence, which anyone is free to follow/like.  The links are on this newsletter.
