Father's Day
This Sunday 6th September we will 'celebrate' Father's Day. Like many events this year, Father's Day will be a little different. We hope to celebrate our families to include Mother's Day, Grandparents Day and Father's Day when we return later in the year. Below you'll see a special tribute to our dads from the staff. Enjoy and stay safe!
Ms Carnovale :)
Ms Carnovale and her dad Nick: My dad and I share a special bond … we even share the same birthday! My dad is loving, knowledgeable and caring and I love him!
Mr Hill and his dad John: I love my dad. I get my good looks and great jokes from him. We always have a great time together.
Miss Smith: My dad is so supportive, encouraging and generous.
Jack: I enjoy spending time with my father when I can get back to Adelaide.
Miss Evans: My dad is accepting, generous and loving. He is always there for me and I love him with all my heart. Happy Father's Day Dad!
Mrs Gerecke: What I love about my dad is that nothing is ever too difficult when it comes to his children. He always makes time for us and is very generous.
Mrs P: My everything!! 25 years of missing this smile :D
Miss Biggs: I love my dad because he is thoughtful, generous and always makes time for me. He has taught me to be kind, patient and to look on the bright side of life. My dad always gives the best advice. He is the role model that I always look up to, and I am so lucky and proud to have such an amazing person in my life
Mr Millar: I am pictured with my son, Caleb and dad, Ed. Dad is a wonderful role model and a great listener.
Miss Coome: This is a photo of my dad and I from years ago at my graduation! Even though we live on opposite sides of the world, we speak most days and I’m very lucky to have his love and support
Miss Fahy: Everyone knows my dad Jimmy! He has worked on the crossing at Galilee for a few years now. Dad has always been a hard-working, family man. He has 6 children and just recently welcomed his 11th and 12th grandchildren. Dad can fix anything, is always there to help but most of all he makes me laugh and smile all the time. Wishing you a Happy Father’s Day dad!
Miss Bland: My dad is the best because he is so thoughtful, generous and caring. There is nothing he won't do for his family. Thank you for always loving me unconditionally and always being there to watch the footy with.
Mrs Rochecouste: Happy Father's Day Terry! I love you so much! You are the BEST dad in the whole, wide world and I appreciate all your love, sacrifices and EVERYTHING you have done for me! I thank God for you! Be blessed and know how special and AMAZING you are to me!
Tegan: My dad is always helping others. He loves his footy and I was always by his side watching sports and movies on the TV with him when I was younger. I love him because he always gives me advice and massages the knots out of my shoulders! Happy Father's Day!
Miss Mason: My dad always encourages me to follow my dreams whilst having fun along the way. He is always there for a chat, to make jokes and of course watch the footy with. He inspires me to work hard for what I want and to enjoy what I do.
Mrs Latto and her Grandad Alan: He moved to Australia from England when he was a boy. I loved spending time with him and visiting him on his farm during the school holidays when I was a kid.
Signora Petrarca : Mio papa. Gennaio 2015. Sempre nel mio cuore.

Light in the darkness: Prayers of Hope
On Monday 31 August, at 7pm, we were invited to light a candle, stand in the front garden or on a balcony and spend some time in silence and prayer to remember all those who have lost their lives to Covid-19 this year.
Here are some beautiful photos from Prep S.
Wellbeing Day
On Wednesday we had our student-led Wellbeing Day. The Year 6 leaders organised drawing and mindful colouring, meditation, exercise and stretching demonstrations, read alouds and making an iMovie activities. Thank you to our Year 6 students: Claire, Sophia, Ruby, Bonnie, Loukas, Sadie, Zoe, Remy, John and Lucas for planning and preparing the activities and videos for all the classes. We hope everyone enjoyed completing the activities on the day and all our students were able to perform some random acts of kindness for others. Here are some of the highlights.

Prep 2021 Live Session
This afternoon we welcomed our new 2021 Preps and their families in an online session with Simon Millar, Carlo Martello, Danielle Gerecke, Jane Ferris, Sheridan McAuliffe, Cassandra Smith, Holly Evans and Carmen Carnovale. It was a great opportunity to meet the new families and see all the children's happy faces. We are very much looking forward to welcoming our Preps onsite next term.
Sports Club Update
Each week, students who attend Sports Club have been completing a virtual race around Australia. Sports Club is being run as P-2, 3&4 and 5&6 sessions. Each minute of exercise equals 1km. Each group of students work together to race around Australia. As we are following the coastline we need 25,760km to get back to our starting point - our school!
Check out where our Year 5&6s are up to below.
If you'd like to join Sports Club lookout for the Dojo posts during the week!
Keep moving and let's see where we end up!

Learning and Teaching in the Juniors
Prep
In STEM, the Preps have been learning about toys and what they are made of. They used a variety of materials to make a plastic parachute toy. Here are some videos.
In Writing, the Preps have been focusing on the structure of a recount. They have been using the time words, ‘first’, ‘then’, ‘next’ and ‘finally’. Read some of the amazing recounts written by our Preps.
Year One
The Year One students created beautiful pictures of their image of God. They could use paint, paper, craft or collage in their pictures.
The students have also been learning to measure and compare the capacities of different objects. First, they had to estimate the container’s capacity and use a measuring jug to measure the actual capacity of the containers.
Year Two
Year Two’s have been learning to write about their opinion. To write an opinion, you need to start by stating what your opinion is and then think of three reasons why you have this opinion. You need to back up each reason with a fact. Here are some examples:
In reading, the students read books about global warming and animal habitats and wrote some interesting facts.
Performing Arts
The Year 2's have been focusing on locomotor and non locomotor moves in dance. Locomotor moves are moves that travel from one point to another such as running. Non locomotor moves keep us in the one place and involve moves such as swaying or bending.
Tristan U and Gabi A from 2E show us some of their disco moves.
TheirCare
In I Spy week, the children were eager to see what planned activities there were throughout the week. They had to create and design their own Secret Agent ID'S. Jai was very determined to write down his information himself with Gemma's support. Annabelle, Charles and Jacob were all confident in completing the planned activity to their best efforts. Roger, Evie, Leonardo and Jack had to critically reflect on how they wanted their ID'S to look and the layout.
Matteo investigated ideas to represent his thinking by coming up with a creative Code-name which was Dragons breath.
We had a smell test challenge where the children were blindfolded and had to use their sense of smell to guess what they were smelling!
Charles and Jacob were challenging each other on the basketball court with a game of football. Other children played on the playground participating in a fun interactive game of ball tiggy and showed off their skills and capabilities on the monkey bars.
To end the week Jai, Evie, Annabelle, Jack and Lachlan did some heartfelt beautiful pictures and cards for their Grandparents to express to them how much they miss them, their favourite memories they have shared together and said how much they love them ️
