school life

book week

On Thursday 22nd October we will be celebrating Book Week with a dress-up day.

On this day we ask students to come dressed as their favourite book character or based on the theme, ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’.

We’re so excited that all students will be back at school to join in the celebrations and can’t wait to see what creative costumes they come up with!

juniors

This week the Juniors have been preparing for the return to school. They have created up cycled ‘Back to School’ booklets and filled them with responses to Wellbeing tasks that teachers set on the students’ digital learning platform Seesaw. Activities included creating a Zones of Regulation ‘rainbow’, making a Monday morning checklist, revisiting the Learning Pit, role play problem solving, teaching someone how to use Whole Body Listening and drawing a brainstorm web to collect ideas for both activities and friendship groups during play times. We also discussed our feelings, reflected on our home learning journey and made ‘back to school’ balloons. These activities have been created to assist the transition between home and school. Students will be able to use their 'Back to School' booklets to help them increase their resilience and support themselves through daily ups and downs in the classroom and the playground.

We look very much forward to your return!

COVID-safe practices

We are excited to have students return to school and have been busy ensuring our school environment is, and will continue to be, a safe place for all students and staff. We will continue to remind all community members about COVID-safe practices throughout the term. Some of the practices we will be following include:

  • If your child is sick, they must stay home. If your child or anyone in your family is displaying symptoms of COVID-19, we ask that you get tested and inform the school immediately. All staff will be following the same guidelines.
  • No parents or carers are allowed on-site without specific permission. We ask all parents and carers to socially distance during drop-off and pick-up times. Designated gates and staggered pick-up times have been communicated to support this practice. A map is included below to demonstrate the gates and times.
  • We have limited the CRTs who will be working in the school this term. The CRTs we have selected, have all agreed to only attend one other school, to again limit changes of exposure.
  • Any contractors attending the school site are expected to follow COVID-safe protocols.
  • Unfortunately no singing or dancing is currently allowed. This has impacts on both our music program and also means the instrumental program is not allowed to go ahead this term. We will keep you updated if this regulation changes.
  • Home readers and library books are allowed to be borrowed, with additional safety measures including an isolation period for returned books and ongoing cleaning.
  • Please do not bring birthday cakes or food to share during Term 4. Cakes can be purchased through Sprout, where we can assure appropriate safety measures have taken place.
  • Handwashing stations, hand sanitiser stations and portable hygiene packs have been distributed throughout the school to support high-levels of hand hygiene. Students and staff are asked to hand wash/sanitise before and after every activity and change of location.
  • Our cleaning schedule has increased hours, with cleaners on-site to clean classrooms, corridors and play equipment regularly.
  • Staff are asked to socially distance while at work; we have signage to outline how many adults are allowed within each room, additional staffrooms have been set up for Term 4 and our staff meetings will continue to run through teleconferencing to support this. Staff are asked to wear masks whenever they are not teaching children, including when on yard duty. Staff are allowed to wear a mask during instruction, if they choose to do so.
  • Staff are expected to complete an infection control professional development session and pass the knowledge check at the end of the session.
  • Regular OHS checks will be performed throughout this term, to ensure we are maintaining our safety measures.
