Term 3

Physical Education

The lovely weather of Spring is definitely upon us and it's getting closer to the end of term!

The seniors will be continuing their basketball unit, working on students developing ball handling skills while staying low and keeping their eyes up. There is also a self-assessment quiz that should only take 5 minutes to do!

The juniors are finishing up their bouncing unit and will also have a self-assessment to see how they have felt about their own achievements in PE this term.

Physical Education Awards

Senior: Coby V (5/6B)

Well done, Coby! You have consistently put in a fantastic effort for all of your PE tasks, demonstrating zest and a love of learning. You were able to showcase your high level of basketball skills and your eagerness to push yourself. Keep it up!

Junior: Jasper P (1/2O)

Jasper, you have done a wonderful job in PE during Remote Learning. This week you were able to demonstrate all the success criteria for our bouncing lesson, and you were able to keep your eyes up while you bounced. Super impressive, Jasper!

Visual Arts

This coming week - we are diving into a multimedia project building on our prior learning of tones, values and hues. This time, our senior students will be creating a multimedia assemblage with monochromatic objects of their choice. It never ceases to amaze me, how much creative potential can be found in 'found objects'. Our last week for all students will be a reflection, evaluation and feedback task. Enjoy the beginnings of spring.

Visual Arts Awards

Senior: Pearl J (5/6B)

For the delicate and refined sense of aesthetics shown in your 'overlapping values drawing'. You continue to show perseverance and flair,  demonstrating a love for learning and appreciation of beauty. You frequently go further than expected and I can't wait to see more of your amazing talent as the year progresses.

Junior: Jason J (1/2O)

For your sensational spring art showing a high level of finesse and care. You impressed us with your zestfulness and love of learning. It's a most beautiful work and great care was taken in its completion. Keep it up - so proud of you.

Performing Arts

Although the end of term is drawing near, Performing Arts is still a buzz with performances a many.  The Year 5/6 students explored characters within monologues and will be performing them this week. The year 3/4 students will be creating with some household goods with a focus on beat and rhythm. The Year 1/2 students uploaded their individual parts for a whole class performance of 'The Three Little Pigs' and Foundation students used their faces, hands and bodies to express their emotions through dance. I thoroughly enjoyed watching their energetic and enthusiastic performances.

It was wonderful to see so many students, mums, dads and grandparents enjoying the whole school dance.  Keep an eye out in Week 10 for the next Whole School Dance to finish the term with a bang, jump, twist and turn.

Performing Arts Awards -

Senior: Elle W (5/6C)

For completing an outstanding 'Character Analysis' on her monologue character.  Elle demonstrated in depth thinking and creativity when exploring her monologue.  Excellent work!

Junior: Zac H (1/2BR)

For your amazing performance of the Big Bad Wolf. Your ability to memorise all your lines and cues with clarity and expression, as well as inventively incorporate props and costume, demonstrates your creativity, love of learning and commitment to the role. Fabulous effort, Zac.

Indonesian

Selamat siang, semuanya!

As the end of the term slowly draws nearer, many classes have completed their final writing tasks for Indonesian, and are beginning their reflection. This week, I asked both the 5/6 classes and the 1/2 classes to reflect back over their term's learning. The personal evaluations and reflections I received were insightful, meaningful and not in a few cases - quite moving. If I haven't said it to your child's class yet (and I'm sure I would have at some point) I am SO proud of our students. They have worked incredibly hard in what has been a very challenging time and produced some brilliant work.

This week, 3/4s finished off their sculpture and carving work, while the Foundation students learned about different native animals in Indonesia by CREATING them in different ways. Explore the photos below for their brilliant and inspiring work!

Sampai nanti,
