Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends,

Well hopefully we have completed our last full term of remote learning........ever!

Congratulations to you all on getting through a very draining and different term. No more Seesaw or Google Classroom tasks to oversee for our families for the next two weeks.

Here are the arrangements for metropolitan Melbourne provided so far for next term-

The following will return to onsite learning from 12 to 16 October (second week of Term 4):

  • students in Prep to Year 2

All students from Year 3 to Year 10 in metropolitan Melbourne will continue with remote and flexible learning until further notice. A date for the return of these year levels to onsite learning will be subject to further health advice.

We are pleased to announce that former student Monet Rogers has been appointed as a School Captain at John Paul College for 2021. we are thrilled for Monet and her family. This also follows former student Jack Henry who is a School Captain at JPC this year.  This shows that the many leadership roles that students fill in a smaller parish primary school such as St Anne's enable our students to thrive and lead into the future.

I have enjoyed the videos from Mrs Thomas this week on Seesaw showing the progress of the buildings as well as catching up on the students' work. My thanks to staff who were onsite yesterday getting the middle area of the school, set up with classrooms for Term 4 so that our students had learning spaces to return to. It is all coming together wonderfully.

For those who walk near the school you will see that Mark and Mr Sullivan, with help from some of the students, have completed and planted a swale area near our Container. This area is designed to harvest some of the rainwater that would otherwise go straight into the stormwater and have the water travel through a rocky and planted low lying area before returning to the stormwater system. It has developed an under-utilised area of the school providing an area that in the future should help our students learning in a number of areas, in particular sustainability and science.

This week in the Gospel we are challenged to consider to our own generosity against the generosity of the Lord! It's Matthew's Gospel about  the workers who all turn up at different times to start their day's labour but still get paid the same. Wow can I see both sides of the story!! I guess at the very least it encourages us to look for occasions this week to be generous, not only with money, but with time, attention and attitude and to challenge those who do not display this generosity of the spirit.

Please have a relaxed break. It has been hard earned by everyone this year and not having to front up each week day to learning tasks on Seesaw or Google Classroom will certainly be much appreciated. Look after yourselves and let your light shine!

May God Bless you.
