Champagnat Day Activities

Rush House cup Tug-o-War Challenge

Last Friday we were blessed with beautiful weather to gather as a community and celebrate Champagnat Day. Our Mass was followed by a shared lunch with afternoon activities taking place on McMahon Oval.

Congratulations to the Foley boys in taking out first-place in the House Tug-o-War competition. Runner-up was Ridley House with Rush House taking out third-place points for the House Cup competition.

Well done to Mr Knight and the Rush House staff, who along with their senior boys coordinated the event.

Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month and the Push Up Challenge

The second activity on Friday afternoon saw an initiative from the Senior Student Leadership group. After discussions at our leadership forum meeting, Marist College signed up as a community group to participate in the month of June Push Up Challenge, not as a fundraiser but as an awareness for men’s mental health.

After an introduction by our Academic Vice-Captain, Ziggy Day explained to the students the importance of the Push Up Challenge in raising awareness of men’s mental health challenges. All secondary students took part in their House groups, completing a small number of synchronised push ups.

Throughout June our student leaders will challenge various student groups to join them in Break 2 a few times a week to complete a few push ups. Each day mental health awareness messages will be in the Daily Notices.

Staff v Students Touch Game

The final activity of the afternoon was the staff v student Touch game. The game was played in good spirit with experience winning through in the end. The final result, a win to the staff 4 – 2. Thank you to Mr Kosiek for organising and managing the staff team.

Walkathon

A beautiful day greeted us on Sunday morning. The chilly start gave way to a pleasant walking temperature. A wrap up by P&F President Mr Jim Gordon appears in the newsletter.

A reminder that donations can still be made up until the end of this term. Remember students who raise $200 receive a ticket in the State of Origin raffle (and a ticket for every $50 after the first $200).

This raffle will be drawn during Break 1 on Tuesday 22 June in Week 10.

Sport Canteen Help

This Saturday is the final round of sport for Term 2. MCA is hosting St Patricks College Shorncliffe. It is also the Old Boys Reunion day. The regular canteen crew are keen to drum up additional help in what is expected to be a large crowd present. If you can offer an hour or so of your time on Saturday to help please sign on using the link below. The Canteen Coordinator is hoping to gain support from around 50 people.
