Work experience

161 year 10 students attended work experience last week. The feedback from teachers that visited the students while on their placements is that they’re enjoying the experience of being out in the working world, and especially so this year since opportunities to learn outside of the classroom have been limited over the past 12 months.

Work experience reaps many rewards including the opportunity to experience first-hand a potential future career, but for some of our students, it has resulted in offers of ongoing work (two that we know of).

We have received some fantastic feedback from employers who have consistently praised our students. Here’s a sample:

“Eva was a pleasure to have in-store. Eva displayed exceptional maturity and commitment. Eva was punctual and displayed skills that are well above expectations.”

San Churro

“It has been a delight having Alyssa as part of our team. The children have loved playing with her. Thank you Alyssa and dream big, you are very capable!”

Ward Avenue Kindergarten

“Annabelle is kind and courteous. I would employ her in a heart-beat.”

Madison Johnston & Associates.

Careers expo

After our April all school assembly our year 11 students boarded buses to take them to the VCE and Careers Expo at Caulfield Racecourse. This group were unable to gain work experience when in year 10 in 2020.  The event gave an opportunity to find information and resources to assist with subject selection; discover tertiary study and training courses options; and receive advice on career, study and employment pathways.

MGSC will host a careers expo for our students next month.
