Secondary Semester One Academic Reports
Please note all Year 11 and 12 students received their Semester One Report yesterday afternoon via SEQTA. Parents were also provided with access to PTO to book Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews for Thursday 24 June from 3:30pm-7pm.
It is important for students to reflect on their work ethic and celebrate their achievements as they plan for next semester.
Please note predicted ATARs will be sent to parents early next week. This is one of the many tracking opportunities students and parents have to assist them to ensure they remain focused and directed towards achieving their goals.

Robotics Club Winners
The John XXIII College Robotics Club competed in the RoboCup Junior Perth Metro Competition on Saturday 12 June. The team of Connor Cusack, Bailey Boylson, Ned Mulder, Ollie Byrnes, Xavian Tong, Lucas O’Hern, and Kiran Kulcar took home the only 'Golden Ticket' awarded, securing a place in the State Final at Curtin University at the end of July. The team performed a parody of the game Fortnite, creating three robots to move to the Youtube hit 'Chug Jug with You'. The team did an incredible job exceeding the judges’ expectations both in the performance and the technical interview. For students interested in joining the robotics team, membership will be open for the next competition at the start of Term 3. Students in Years 7-10 are welcome to join.

Year 10 Outdoor Education Camp
The Semester One, Year 10 Outdoor Education Camp was a fantastic experience for all involved. Although tasked with a severe weather warning, the students showed great resilience and spirit throughout the week. The camp was held in Karridale, situated in the Margaret River region. The stunning bush camp was located in Karridale, near Margaret River. Students participated in adventure activities, a high ropes course and a 40m abseil down Brides Cave. Students were also able to apply skills acquired during classroom learning which included; Trangia cooking, tent construction, fire lighting and cooking.
The following anecdotes are some words from students on their experience:
'The Year 10 Outdoor Education Camp was such a great experience, not only was it challenging and exhilarating, but I got to learn new skills in the bush everyday as well. During this camp, I created friendships and bonded with my classmates and peers who I don’t usually interact with. Some of my highlights of this camp was the abseiling and tour of Brides Cave, we also had the chance to take part in a high ropes course and lots of amazing bushwalks and the scenery was beautiful and rewarding.'
Jasmine Slatter, Year 10 Loyola.
'I feel very lucky that the Year 10 Outdoor Education Camp was able to go ahead this semester given the recent COVID-19 restrictions that have occurred. For me, camp was a thrilling and challenging experience with many obstacles that truly shone light on the diverse personalities within my group. Over the 4-day period, my group and I managed to complete over 30 km of hiking through the Borunup Forest and beautiful coastline and endured the harsh weather conditions. The Margret River camp was an opportunity that I will cherish for the rest life and I hope that all the younger years get to experience the joys and adventures that the camp has to offer.'
Jonah Burns, Year 10 Koolyangarra
The students conducted themselves in a mature and positive manner. A huge thank you to all involved; especially our staff attending this camp: Mr Jordan Sell, Miss Clare Galati and Mr Jerram Gibson. Their commitment and involvement was greatly appreciated.

Year 12 - Road Safety presentation
Year 12 students were introduced to Rob Pike who is a road safety presenter for the Paraplegic Benefit Fund (PBF Australia).
Rob shared his story of a motor car crash that he was involved in. He spoke about the causes of the crash and the impact it has had on his life. It was an important message for our young drivers to listen to and to hear his road safety messages. We all want them to be safer drivers and more mindful passengers.
