Around The Primary

Dear Parents,

Winter is here! It is that time of the year when the season change brings winter colds and flus that spread easily and filter through the school community. It is important to keep your child at home when they are unwell to ensure that they recuperate and get over their illness before returning to school.

Thank you to Mrs Haydon, Ms O’Connor, Mr Fromm and the students from Year 5 for the work that they put into preparing today's Assembly item. It was such a wonderful presentation showcasing music and drama skills.

On Thursday the College hosted the IPSHA Winter Lightning Carnival. This involved the students from Year 6 participating in various soccer, netball, football and hockey games with students from 12 other schools. It was a great opportunity for our students to shine on the sporting field. Our teams tried very hard, and we are so proud of their efforts. Congratulations to Mr Williams for coordinating this huge event. A big thank you also to all our staff and Secondary students that helped to coach and umpire the various games throughout the day.

You may have noticed the new fencing that has been placed around the College. It is the first visible sign that our building program is underway; and we look forward to the time when the wonderful new facilities will be available. In the meantime, some modifications to our parking practice (and plenty of patience!) will be required.

The following parking and drop off arrangements will be in place from Monday 21 June:

  • The main College car park (near the Exhibition Centre) will be unavailable for parking.
  • Years 1-6 students will need to be dropped off/picked up from the loop in front of Main Administration.
  • Pre-Primary parents will be able to access the new carpark off Heritage Lane. To gain access, you will need to display your ‘Pre-Primary Family Name’ sign.
  • Kindy and Pre-Primary parents can continue to use the Early Childhood carpark. To gain access, you will need to display your ‘Pre-Kindy or Kindy Family Name’ sign.
  • The pick-up/drop off area for students travelling by bus remains the same.

Finally, thank you in anticipation of your cooperation and understanding with these arrangements.

Well done to all our Primary students who performed on Sunday and Monday at the Music Eisteddfod.  We are very proud of all students for ‘having a go’ and showcasing their talents across strings, percussion, wind, piano, guitar and voice.

Kind regards,

Out & About in the Town of Vincent

On Friday 11 June, Year 4 students visited the Town Vincent Administration and Library, Local History Centre, Community Centre and the Council Chamber. During this excursion, students learned about the services provided by local government including waste management and recycling. They also visited the Council Chambers and had the opportunity to listen to and speak with Mayor Emma Cole. Special thanks to David MacLennan, CEO of the Town of Vincent (and parent of Charlie MacLennan 4B) for his generous invitation to visit and coordinating this experience.  An enjoyable outing was had by all.

Sports Update

Congratulations to all students for their energy, efforts and participation in the IPSHA Winter Lightning Carnival. The teachers were so proud of our students for the standard of skills and the sportsmanship they displayed, and this was commented on throughout the day by umpires and staff from other schools.
