From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers

Term 2 and lockdowns have again presented challenges to our teachers, students and parents. As a school community we have done extremely well in meeting many of those challenges, and in working in partnership with each other, we will continue to do so.

Term 3 COVID Safe Plan/Protocols

From the beginning of Term Two Monday 12 July,  parents will be welcome on site for drop off and pick up. There will be no separate pick up time for Preps.

The use of Service Victoria QR codes for electronic record keeping is mandatory for all schools to enable the effective contact tracing of any COVID-19 cases. Every adult who enters Queen of Peace must scan the QR code. These codes have been set up at the entrance to all classrooms. If you are unable to register your attendance via QR code, you are required to visit the office to write down your contact name, phone number, time and date of visit.

You do not need to use the QR code if entering the school grounds for school drop - off or pick-up, only if you enter the classrooms. Face masks are required indoors and should be worn outside when social distancing is not possible.

School Improvements/Holiday works

Playground: Hopefully this will be completed during the two week holiday period. This will depend on the weather and in particular the amount of rainfall over the next two weeks. Hopefully the playground will be ready for our first day back.

Toilet Renovations: The  total refurbishment of our student bathroom/toilet areas has begun and we expect this to be completed early in Term Three.

Solar Panels/Lighting: The old panels will be removed and new panels will be placed on the school's hall roof. New light and security cameras will also be constructed in the car park. All old fluorescent lighting will be replaced throughout the school, including the Hall, with new energy-efficient lights specific to educational lighting standards.

Principal Long Service Leave

I will be taking Leave during the first two weeks of Term Three. During this time, Michael Ozbun will be Acting Principal. At the time of writing I’m confident that I can get to sunny North Queensland.

I hope that all families have a relaxing, peaceful holiday.

Warm regards

Darren Gibbons

Principal
