Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a wonderful couple of weeks being back at school since the snap lockdown. We have enjoyed seeing the children settle back into their learning so well. In this newsletter you will see some examples of what we have been doing to finish off the term.

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. CHPS is holding our ‘own’ NAIDOC Week between Monday 26th July and Friday 30th July. Staff will be integrating appropriate resources into their teaching that week and COVID-19 restrictions permitting, we will be organising some special events for the students.

As part of the Respectful Relationships program, we have included a link to the ‘Excuse Interpreter’, which provides the opportunity for some reflective thinking about ‘the hidden meanings of common expressions that can excuse disrespectful behaviour towards girls.’ Please click on the Respectful Relationships tab for more details.

Just a reminder that Thursday July 15th (Week 1) will be a student-free day for parent-teacher interviews. Parent-teacher interviews will also be held on the Monday and Wednesday after school of that week. Please see Compass for bookings.

We wish our families a safe and happy break and look forward to seeing the students back at school on Monday July 12th.

Take care over the break,

Megan
