Principal's Report

Lockdown #5

Remote & Flexible Learning

As we're in the midst of Lockdown #5, I would like to acknowledge and thank all stakeholders ie students, parents, carers and staff, for playing their integral role in making this happen so successfully.

Despite the obvious challenges and struggles this situation presents, we have all supported our most vulnerable - students, to continue looking out for their wellbeing and ongoing growth in learning and social & emotional capabilities.

Keep up the great work and embrace the special offerings a lockdown offers.  It will unite us further and help build stronger relationships and connections, to those who matter.

Parking & Traffic

With our new expanded site, many unforeseen and planned changes will or already have emerged.  Simply, it's a game changer!

From inside the gates to outside on the roads and passage-ways to school, please be mindful we're all adjusting.

We are all doing our best to adapt.  Please continue to look out for changed foot traffic and automobile traffic conditions and movement patterns.

We must respect our neighbours and their property.  It is not okay to park on lawn areas, particularly at this time of year, nor block driveways, if only for a short period.  No Parking areas are there for a reason.

Please step up as an adult and as a role-model for our students and educate them on the correct methods of use, outside our gates.

In reality, I need your cooperation and support as it is not my jurisdiction, but our (staff) care doesn't stop because there's a gate or fence there.

Kim barne Nitji

Today is another milestone in our capital works project, with a partial handover of our new building, Kim barne Nitji, incorporating a purpose built competition grade basketball court, performing and visual arts rooms, STEM (Media) room, canteen and food technology room and associated amenities.

Troon have been working tirelessly to deliver a state of the art school, and they have not disappointed with our newest building.  For many years to come, our community will gain great and lasting memories within its various spaces.

Facilities for Hire

From term four, a number of our new facilities will be for hire.

I am currently preparing an expression of interest process for a range of stakeholder groups who may wish to hire our various facilities, for an array of purposes.

On offer we will have:

  • Conference Room facilities
  • Oval
  • Competition grade basketball court (netball also)
  • Canteen

Please remain vigilant, should you wish to access our wonderful new facilities, or inquire with me (Dale) via our school office.

Community After Hour Use

We were fortunate to gain State Government funding for our new school.  Much of the basis and purpose behind the construction, was around shared school & community use.

In due course, the community will be able to access playgrounds and our oval for example.  For now, it remains partially a school and partially a construction site.  It is necessary therefore, to temporarily close access to the oval until further notice.  Gates will be locked after hours, as it is currently not conducive to all weather use with our surrounds not complete and mud abundant.

Troon continue works and access to the rear (north end or Clarke St end) of the site, as such access is not permitted until works are complete.

I hope and trust our school community and broader community, will respect this necessary move, until further notice, after which we will all gain many years of enjoyment from our wonderful new oval.

I acknowledge the First Peoples of the Wathaurong, who are the traditional custodians of the land and waters on which I work and live, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
