Principal's Message

By Jenny Hassett

Welcome Back

Welcome back everyone to Term 3 2021 at Rollins- I hope everyone had an enjoyable family time and managed to find a little warmth and sunshine.

Of course,  the start to Term 3 has been again disrupted by the current lockdown.

Just when you think we are returning to a more normal world, it hits again. At this stage school will return next Wednesday 27th July- fingers crossed. Please make sure you keep an eye on COMPASS,  as this will report the most current information re our return.

I would like to thank the parents in our community who have again rallied to become their child's tutor. It is incredibly demanding and constantly draining for parents and carers trying to juggle a number of activities during these snap lockdowns.

I would also like to thank my staff who moved swiftly to organise Remote Learning programs at such short notice.

Great job Team Rollins.

Staffing

We welcome back Lauren Stevens who has been on Maternity leave for a number of months. Lauren will be working in the Grade 3/4 and prep area. We also welcome on board Andrea Ramsey (back at Batesford) and Ben Geall who will be assisting in the infant area.

We have some  exciting news from 2 of our staff members. Monique Dumont is expecting her first child in November and Sharni Oliver her second child in December. We wish them both all the best in the coming months.

Strategic Review

Every 4 years each school in Victoria undergoes a full scale review. This entails studying the  2017-21 goals and setting new and specific goals for Rollins in the coming 4 years.

This process occurs over a number of days and includes an outside Reviewer and two critical partners from other Geelong Schools. We would like to thank our School Council President, Erin McGill for agreeing to participate and contribute to this important event.

This is a great opportunity for the panel to fully examine all areas of the schools documentation and data.

Our Review will take place during August/ September period. We look forward to reviewing the last 4 years and setting detailed and direct focuses for the forthcoming years.

Concert Postponed

It is regret that we have postponed the Rollins School Concert till 2022.

I have recently had communication with all staff and the School Council and it has been decided that going ahead in the climate we have been experiencing over the past 12 months is clouded with insecurity and may be financially draining on the school with a late cancellation.

Hopefully 2022 will be a more stable year and we can all enjoy seeing the children perform for us- this also gives the teachers an extra 12 months to fine tune their act!!!

We will conduct our major raffle later this term. This is a major fundraising event for our school and is usually held in conjunction with the concert. More information will follow later this term.
