From Our School Leaders

New Beginnings At Scoresby PS

Term 2 has seen us preparing for our upcoming School Review. It has been time for us to stop, reflect and look at our achievements, successes and shortfalls over the past four years. Our recent Curriculum Day saw staff reflect on the past 4 years in teams, pairs and mixed groupings, and this work has helped us put together the report for our pre-review meeting. Leadership will be meeting with our reviewer, John Hunter, on the first Tuesday of Term 3.

Next term we have decided to work towards a re-launch of Scoresby PS, in a few key areas.

  • Website updates - School websites are the new front doors to schools as many people now view schools virtually and then tour in person after a good look around the site.  This year we moved to a free website platform to host our information while we found a company to work with, to build us a new site. We have sourced a local company and have had initial meetings.  This work will be completed next term. It brings updated photos, virtual tours and drone overhead shots of the school. We will be taking advantage of this to get as many promotional shots as we can.
  • Uniform updates - Our yellow school top has been around for a long time, and is looking a little tired. We have obtained alternative uniform samples of school tops that we would like to transition into our school uniform over time.  We are looking for our community to have input in this decision.
  • School logo updates - Currently Scoresby PS has two school logos that we use -   one on the uniforms and one on our letterheads and signage. We are looking to get one logo for all things Scoresby PS.

Reports And Maths Assessment Task Home On Friday

Teachers have been working hard to complete their reports, and have managed to catch up on assessments after returning from Remote Learning.

Our reports will be able to be accessed via COMPASS on Friday 25th June after 1.00pm. We are also sending home our Maths Assessment Task for the term; it will be released on COMPASS by 1.00pm.

You will not get a notification that it has been released; you need to log into COMPASS to view the task – under the tab Learning Tasks.

The Resilience Project - Parenting Session Webinar Tuesday Night

On Tuesday night, we attended our Parenting session with Lael Stone from The Resilience Project. The talk was fabulous!

The 6.30-8.00pm time slot we know is tricky for parents. Please find the link below for the session, which is available for us over the next 2 weeks.  It has lots of gems in there for us as parents, and to help navigate the years ahead. Lael also mentions the podcast she has, which may be of interest to you.

Happy Holidays

As we come to the end of another term, and the halfway point of the year, we would like to wish you all a lovely relaxing break. It’s nice to be going into this break with an easing of COVID restrictions as well.

We hope you have fun, stay safe and look forward to seeing you all back at school for a very busy Term 3 on Monday 12th July. We are kicking off the term with 2 weeks of swimming for F-4, Life Education for F-6 and Year 4 Camp in Week 3 - so make sure you get a rest!

Have fun and stay safe!
