Student of the Week Awards Presented 18/6/21

Bodhi N. - 00L

This award goes to Bodhi for showing Excellence during Maths this week. Bodhi is a wonderful mathematician who helped our class to collect and read data from our birthday graph this week. He also put in a great effort to share his learning with the whole class. Bodhi, you are a Scoresby Superstar!

Hannah R. -  00N

Hannah is to be congratulated for being such a talented mathematician. She is able to confidently gather and share data from our birthday graph. Congratulations Hannah we are all very proud of you. You are a Scoresby Superstar!

Beaux W. - 1/2D

This week, Beaux has been working really hard on using location words to give directions for someone to get from one place to another. Beaux chose his starting point in the room and then carefully stepped out his directions before writing them down. He used words like forwards, left, right, and between. Congratulations Beaux – keep up the hard work!

Hayley R. - 1/2F

Hayley is receiving this award for engaging with our location unit in maths this week. She enthusiastically took part in class discussions and enjoyed drawing a map and thinking of directions between different places. Keep up the great work, Hayley!

Lucas N. - 1/2K

For his great work during our Location unit this week. Lucas was able to use the directions of left and right accurately when giving directions. He was able to give directions to a secret location using direction words like forward, turn, back, right and left. Well done Lucas!

Eva S. - 3/4C

The 3/4C award goes to Eva for the perseverance she demonstrated in understanding vertical subtraction. Eva practised 2-digit vertical subtraction during remote learning after finding it tricky to learn and came back to school with a huge smile and feeling much more confident. Well done on the effort you have put in, Eva!

Lilly B. - 3/4E

During our PONT maths lesson this week, Lilly investigated whether a collection of objects was odd or even. She showed her understanding by sharing the objects into two groups and stating that they were both equal, which meant that the collection of objects was even. Then she double checked her work by counting each object individually and utilising resources to double check that she was correct! Super work Lilly, you are a wonderful mathematician!

Liam H. - 3/4S

Liam is congratulated on his willingness to challenge and extend his thinking in Maths this week. During an investigation into the properties of odd and even numbers, Liam tested the rules using a variety of large numbers. Liam, it is great to see you working hard and striving for excellence.

Alvin O. - 5/6B

Alvin has shown fantastic growth in his maths skills this term. He has worked exceptionally well during PONT classes where he demonstrates a strong understanding of solving problems with elapsed time. Alvin was able to create an itinerary for a day in Melbourne, including 5 different destinations, public transport and more. Well done Alvin, you should be very proud of yourself!

Reif L. - 5/6M

This award goes to Reif for the time and effort he took whilst completing activities on converting time during PONT this week. Reif confidently converted minutes and hours to days, months and years. Reif also correctly answered a number of worded problems involving elapsed time. Great work Reif!

Timothy L. - 5/6W

For demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of elapsed time. This week, Timothy developed a well thought out and planned itinerary for a day out in Melbourne. He planned a day where he followed a particular set of criteria. Wonderful effort Timothy! I am so proud of you. Thank you for sharing your wonderful understanding with the class. We are very lucky to have you in 5/6W!

Elouise J. - Visual Arts

Foundation students explored patterns and textures to create painted papers for a collage of a bird. Elouise worked creatively when cutting and arranging pieces for her collage. She artistically added small trees to the bottom of her paper and clouds extending off the paper to show that her bird was flying. Clever thinking Elouise! Your art is simply fabulous!

Scarlett F. - Mandarin

This award acknowledges and congratulates Scarlett for taking the initiative in learning something new in Mandarin this week. We have been learning how to use chopsticks to hold MAB blocks and Scarlett has tried very hard to do that. Well done on having a go!
