Term 2 Remote Learning

At the start of week seven, students went to school, just like any other day. Teachers were ready to teach. Students were ready to learn. To their shock, a one week lockdown was announced and students went home that day, to return next week. Or so they thought…

Sadly, one week turned to two, but thankfully we didn’t have to suffer a third week of lockdown.

Parents, have you been thinking about what your children have been up to during remote learning? Students, have you been wondering what the Grade 5/6s’ tasks were?

Well, the grade 5/6s were asked to complete multiple tasks over the duration of two weeks. In the first week, students were given tasks such as:

- Angles golf course

- An angles worksheet

Here are some examples of the Angles golf course work:-

Students also completed:

  • A bump it up wall analysis
  • Daily spelling tasks
  • An information report on a chosen animal
  • The one-pager task

The one-pager was a task in which students had to design a piece of paper, reflecting on their book. Each one-pager includes:

-The title of the novel

-The author

-The date started to date completed

-The pages read

-The rating of book (1: the worst – 10: the best)

-3 quotes that stand out

-A literary technique the author has used

-A drawing of a favourite scene from the novel

-A brief reflection of the book

Here are examples of one-pagers from some of our Grade 6 students.

Students put a lot of effort and hard work into these one-pagers. They enjoyed the creative twist more than a traditional book review, and were very proud of the results. We hope you enjoy reading them too!
