Active Travel NEWS!

Walk and Wheel Wednesday returned last week on what felt like the wettest morning of the year! Well done to everyone who walked and wheeled, it is great to see that the numbers remained fairly consistent even though there was a lot of rain!!!

Well done to 3RP who came in first again on 72%. 3GM were 2nd on 63% and close behind in 3rd place was 4JT on 60%.

Walk and Wheel Wednesday will continue in Term 3 so make sure you keep fit over the holidays and practise your walking and wheeling!

My poem from last week was -

Wheels are turning,

Feet are  burning

The footpath, as they walk to school.

Bells are rung

And songs are sung!

Travelling to school this way is cool.

Learn to Ride a Bike Program

The 2nd group of students learning to ride their  bikes finished up on Wednesday.  They all did really well and have all managed to learn to ride a 2 wheel bike on their own! Make sure you keep practising and enjoy riding your bike safely over the holidays on bike paths and in the parks.

The program is continuing in Terms 3 and 4 and I look forward to assisting the students who have enrolled in the program, to learn to ride a bike then.

Remember like anything you are learning ...practise is the key and falling off a bike will happen! The key is to persist and keep trying. You eventually get there in the end with whatever you are learning to do.

Dr Cranky's

The Dr Cranky's Team were back onsite yesterday. It was great to see them back, attending to and checking bikes that needed some care and assessment.

Remember,  Dr Cranky's is not only about recycling bikes! Dr Cranky's will tune up an old bike if it is not working very well.  If your child’s bike needs some care, please bring your bike in on a Wednesday morning next term. They can lube chains, fix flat tyres and replace a damaged or broken gear cable or brake cables etc. What ever is needed, they can get your child's bike back into being a fabulous well-tuned riding machine!

If you would like to learn more about the program, come down and meet everyone on a Wednesday morning before school from 8:20am next term. You can also look at the website https://www.drcrankys.com.au/

Additionally, if you would like to donate a bike, please come down on a Wednesday morning or email me on Julie.Tainsh@education.vic.gov.au

The Dr Cranky's Team look forward to seeing you there in Term 3.
