REMINDERS:

  • Attendance: Please make sure to log onto compass and put an absence note in when your child is away. Teachers will be contacting you to support if you haven't done this.
  • Diaries: It has been great seeing more diaries at school over the past two weeks. They are required to be at school every day, as they will have student learning goals in them. Students are to write in any reading, spelling, maths or other homework they are doing each day.
  • Our next health sessions are Thursday the 16th of March, Wednesday 22nd of March and Friday the 31st of March.

eSmart

This week, the Grade 6 team started working through the ESmart program with students.

The eSmart Digital Licence is an online cyber safety program that teaches primary and secondary aged students critical digital skills to be smart, safe and responsible online. The program incorporates eight modules that address privacy, searching, sharing, gaming, social networking, risky behaviours and cyberbullying.

There are three components to this program; Whole Class lessons and activities, (led by teachers), independant online work & there is also an activity to be done at home which ties in with each of the modules (attached). We hope you enjoy having the opportunity to be involved with your child's cyber safety education.

2023 Summer Lightning Premiership

Cricket:

On Wednesday we played cricket for the lightning premiership. It was tricky because we had extra players that had to sit off each game. We played against Surfside, Clifton Springs and St Thomas Primary Schools. The Mixed team won one game and lost two. The girls team won all three of their games. We had heaps of fun and played well as a team. Mr Lord coached the Mixed team and Cam Don coached the girls’ team. Everyone had a go and improved throughout the day, which was awesome to see. We all cheered and encouraged each other during the day.

We all had an awesome time at lightning prem and the girls cricket team played so well they won all their games and even made it to districts! They played so hard and even though some of them haven’t played before they ended up great. As for the boys they played just as well. They won against Surfside but were defeated by St Thomas and Clifton Springs. Even though they didn’t make it to districts they probably deserved to because of their effort.

Tee Ball:

On Wednesday we play Tee Ball against three other schools. Surfside, St Thomas and Clifton Springs Primary Schools. The mixed/boys team won 2 out of our three games, and won the day overall by 3 runs. We had lots of fun, everyone participated and showed lots of team work, sportsmanship and enthusiasm. Everyone improved as the day went on. Mr Wright was an amazing coach for the boys / mixed team, and a special thanks to all teachers and Mr Rice for helping out and making the day amazing.

We loved playing Tee Ball because we thought we played really well and worked as a team. We had quite a disadvantage because we only had six players and we were supposed to have nine. We worked really well together and we had a great time. We won two games. We also came second but is was a win for us anyway. Thank you so much to Pete Guthrie who came to coach us for the day. We had an excellend time.

Volleyball:

On Wednesday, the Grade Sixes had Lightning Premiership in Ocean Grove. There was Teeball, Tennis, Volleyball and Cricket. We played Volleyball. There were two teams, one mixed/boys and one girls. Both teams played extremely well and tried their best. After winning most of our games, we both won the finals, which means both teams made it through to districts. At the end of the dall, all of us were tired and our wrists were sore.

But everyone had such a blast. It was so fun and such a great experience. All of us are excited for districts.

The other teams were fun to play with and all schools were so grateful to the teachers and parent helpers for taking us, especially Cam O'Brien and Mrs Renfrey.

Tennis:

On Wednesday we played a form of mini tennis (hot shots) in the summer lightning premiership. The mixed/boys team ended up winning overall only dropping two games for the whole day. The other competitors played really fairly and really well. Everyone had great fun for the entire day and there was a lot of improvement with everyone. Thank you to Mr Phillips, Amy Thorpe, Brett Armstrong and Nicky Dennis for coming and helping out. Everyone had so much fun.
