Maths – Wanted Poster

In Grade 5, students were tasked with creating a "Wanted" poster to demonstrate their understanding of number, place value, and expanded form. The objective of this project was to encourage students to use their creativity and apply their math skills to a real-world scenario.

To begin the project, students were asked to choose a 6-digit number or beyond, and then create a "Wanted" poster for that number, as if it were a criminal on the run. The poster had to include the number's name, place value, written and expanded form, as well as a description of the number's "crimes" (e.g. "stealing place value" or "escaping from addition").

To make the project more engaging, students were encouraged to add illustrations or graphics to their posters, and to use different fonts and colors to make their posters stand out. They were also given the opportunity to present their posters to the class, explaining their thought process and how they arrived at their final design.

Overall, this project allowed students to demonstrate their understanding of key math concepts in a fun and creative way. It also gave them an opportunity to use their imaginations and showcase their artistic skills, while still meeting their learning objectives.
