Grade 3

Explore the Learning in Grade 3

During writing this week students have been analysing transitional words and emotive language while drafting a persuasive piece of writing about school uniforms.  In reading we have been learning about the difference between fact and opinion and when an author may employ these devices.

This week in maths, the year 3’s have been learning about the properties of 3D Shapes.

Students used straws, modelling clay and geometric shapes to build 3D shapes and their nets. We counted how many faces, vertices and edges our shapes had.

Here are some of our creations!

Grade 3A's Chicken Visit

Today Tilly brought two of her 2 week old chickens in for 3A to hold. Lots of great questions were asked like, 'How long does an egg take to hatch?' Answer: '21 days'. And, 'What colour will they be?' Answer: 'Unknown!' The students of 3A were all very gentle and caring to the little chickens who are called Opal and Little Moon.
