2023 Student Leadership

Epping Views Primary School highly values Student Leadership and the opportunities it provides students, both in the classroom and when given a particular leadership responsibility. Leadership is a quality that all students are taught and supported to develop in every year level, through learning in classrooms and being provided with roles within the classroom to lead. Examples include taking part and being listened to in class meetings, leading a small group, and having a particular role within the classroom as a classroom monitor. Students are also taught explicitly how to Be Caring, Be Honest, Be Excellent, Be Respectful and Be Responsible, and are recognised when they do so.

Students in official leadership roles are provided with opportunities to represent other students and contribute to whole school decision making. They are given formal opportunities to provide feedback, represent the school in the community, and learn about and develop leadership skills. Students in this group are also provided with opportunities to contribute to planning and facilitating events for the whole school.

Students in official leadership roles will also be connected to adult professional learning teams within the school. They are given opportunities to provide contributions and feedback to the leaders of particular professional learning teams, as well as attend a professional learning team meeting (with parent permission) once a term, in order to build partnerships and work with all staff in the team they are connected to.
