On Wednesday this week we held our annual swimming carnival down at the Maffra Pool. With great weather and fantastic attendance, all of the students had a wonderful time supporting their houses and each other. The overall winning house on the day was Freestone, and the following students were the age champions:

  • 12/13 years old – Kobe Parsons, Isla Hawkins, Tara Howell
  • 14 years old – Lincoln Phillips, Caitlin Lestrange
  • 15 years old – Xander Raine, Jena Hargreaves
  • 16 years old – Henry Noble, Olive Brooks
  • 17 years old – Dylan Jones, Alana Lanigan
  • 18+ years old – Jack Dennis, Jayde Parsons

Thanks to all of the staff and students that made the day a great success.

The weather turned up for the day! The 2023 swimming Carnival was a blast of a day for people competitively swimming, competing for fun and all the people supporting from the side lines.

The day began warm and sunny as we walked down to the pool. Being greeted with music playing and a cool tempting pool, everyone was keen to get in and have a go. All the houses looked fantastic, dressed up in their colours to support their team.

The swimming events were great fun to watch and participate in with some people swimming in tutu's and hats!. In between events free swims were allowed for the houses and encouraged everyone to get in the pool and cool off.

The house parades allowed each house to show off their fancy colours and walking around the pool with a song of their choice on.

There were some fun events at the end of the day including a teacher vs. student’s relay where both of the teacher teams bet the students.

The day was so much fun and I commend each and every student that got into the pool and gave it a go. It was so great to see everyone out with their friends enjoying the day by the water. I’m sure many students went home red and rosy from the day in the sun!

As a captain of Macalister, I was very proud of our team/house at the swimming carnival. The effort we put in as a team was very good and I think personally we should’ve won the parade but that’s just me. Besides coming third, I really thought it was a good day for not just us but the whole school. It was hot and it was good to see heaps of new studentsparticipating in the events. That’s it for me, but Macalister House is coming for cross country and athletics!

On the 15th of February swimming sports was held and it was an outstanding day. The weather was great which encouraged everyone to go for a swim. All the houses were getting there points up by competing, even if you didn’t accomplish a position that moves on to the next round. We had chants and parades for each house which tallied up to the final points. With an outstanding 506 points, Freestone (green) came out on top, which was followed by Thompson (gold), Macalister (red) and Avon (blue). Congratulations to everyone who came and to those who competed.
