Dear Parents and Carers,
This week marked the beginning of Lent. The staff and students of St Aidan's celebrated the start of the season with pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and the whole school attended Mass on Ash Wednesday led by Fr Allan and Fr Rafael. It was two days where once again the St Aidan's community joined together in our faith.
Lent is the time of year when we prepare for Easter. We know that during this time Jesus spent forty days in the desert, He was filled with the Holy Spirit, He prayed and He fasted. Jesus spent this time thinking about the good things God wanted him to do. As followers of Chirst we can use this time of Lent to pray, make sacrifices and think of how we too can do the things that God wants us to do.
"God, may Your light guide my day,
and your spirit bring me peace.
Amen"
St Aidan's Open Day is next Thursday 2nd March at 9-10.30am and 3.30-5.30pm. Please spread the word about our amazing school and our up coming Open Day. Year 6 students will be proudly leading our school tours on the day. Thank you to those families who have delivered flyers advertising our Open Day. If you would like to deliver more flyers please see our office staff.
Just a reminder that Playgroup is starting next week on Wednesday 1st March in the Parish Hall at 9am. We encourage all younger siblings of our students and from our local community to attend. Please spread the word.
I have thoroughly enjoyed checking in with all students K-6 this week via ZOOM. The students have shared with me some of the amazing things they have been learning about and some of the things they are excited about. Year 1 students were excited to tell me of trips they have planned and visits with Grandparents. Year 2 informed me they are learning about 'Energy' in Science and Pronouns and Verbs in English. Stage 2 spoke of their excursion to Kamay Botany Bay National Park where there was a sighting of wildlife. Stage 3 shared what they learnt during the Police visit and the importance of safety online. They were also excited to tell me about the up coming Cross Country Trials. Kindergarden shared their knowledge of sounds that they have been learning about and quized me on my favourite animals and dinosaurs. I love seeing their happy, inquisitive faces and sharing their learning journey with them. I continue to be proud of the students at St Aidan's and have encouraged them to continue to work hard and achieve their goals. The Staff have also been working extremely hard and I thank them for their constant dedication to our students and continued support.
Take care and God bless.
Warm regards,
Rachel Baker
