Chasing Sound Update

The cancellation of the music program was a Chasing Sound decision. It was during the last few days of Term 4 that Chasing Sound informed the school that the music program would not be able to continue.

There were a number of factors that had impacted Chasing Sound’s decision to put a hold to the music program for 2023.

In 2022 MACS introduced a policy as part of the overall Child Safety policies and codes of conduct, affecting the use of outside providers working with children (sport coaches, music tutors, therapists etc) whereby they needed to be in sight of school staff. This meant we couldn’t use the music rooms anymore for the tuition sessions. 

The above was further complicated by also juggling the timetables of students to be able to attend music tuition and not miss the same core academic and specialist classes. There had been a changeover of staff at Chasing Sound with some key personnel moving on in their careers. 

Looking into the future we will continue to explore other avenues and possibilities to achieve our goal of a fully functioning school choir and band that is supported by a robust music program.

Unfortunately, we have been notified by Chasing Sound that the business will stop lessons at the end of this term and close down.
