Maths Leader - Prep to Year 2
Hi all, my name is Melanie Sanderson and I am the Maths Leader for Prep to Year 2 this year. This year, I have the honour of doing three new roles. Along with the maths role, I will be the Sustainability Leader and Community Liaison Leader. I have been at the School of the Good Shepherd for nearly 6 years and previously was in the Wellbeing Leader Role.
I look forward to assisting students in their classrooms this year with their mathematics. I will be working alongside the teachers to plan differentiated maths lessons for students from Prep to Year 2. I can’t wait to watch students grow in their mathematical thinking and understanding this year.
One of our goals this year is to make maths engaging for students. We will be sharing ideas with parents throughout the year on how to engage with their children at home. This will support our work in the Community space as research shows that parental engagement can positively impact student outcomes.
Maths Leader- Years 3-6
Hi everyone, my name is Susan Mitchell and I am the Maths Leader for Years 3-6. This is my 6th year of working at School of the Good Shepherd. Part of my leadership role is also organising scheduling for the school in many different areas (eg. Timetabling, Yard Duty Rosters, NAPLAN, reports etc.)
This year is a little different as we now have a P-2 Maths Leader, Mel Sanderson. I am looking forward to working with Mel in focussing on our SoGS Maths goals and assisting all classrooms to bring these to life. This involves both of us being in classrooms modelling, coaching and teaching all students. We can’t wait to continue to work alongside our teachers in the Maths space.
We are lucky to be in the middle of a 2 year Grant Process through Melbourne Archdiocese Schools (MACS) through Get In2Maths- Transforming Education in Numeracy. We have created a Maths Improvement Plan for our school, creating goals around Engagement for Students and a continual building of our teachers' efficacy. We look forward to continuing to work on Numeracy at SoGS, beginning with our School Closure Day on Monday the 20th of February (details of this day in a newsletter soon).
