Literacy Leader P-2
Hi everyone, my name is Chris Catterall (the children call me Ms Chris) and I am the Literacy Leader for Years Prep - 2. This is my 2nd year at School of the Good Shepherd. Last year I was in a Literacy Intervention role implementing the Reading Discovery program in Years Prep-2.
My role as Prep-2 Literacy Leader is to work alongside your child’s classroom teacher assisting all children work towards their Literacy goals. I will also be working closely with Jemma McVeigh who is the Years 3-6 Literacy Leader and the Reading Discovery team. Together we will collaboratively plan to ensure our SOGS Literacy targets are met.
This year I look forward to getting to know more of the families in our SOGS community. Please come over and introduce yourself if you see me in the yard.
Literacy Leader 3-6
Hello SOGS community,
My name is Jemma McVeigh, I am the Deputy Principal and Year 3 - 6 Literacy Leader here at School of the Good Shepherd. My two core values are ‘growth’ and ‘integrity’. Remaining open to learning and staying curious are ways that I continue to grow and inspire those around me to continue growing and developing. Choosing courage over comfort is how I stay in my integrity. I practise compassion and empathy with myself and in my interactions with others.
I am passionate about learning, leadership and making a difference to the lives of those in my community. I continue to teach children through my strong connection to the classroom, as well as mentor and coach our educators so that our students learn through quality teaching.
This year, I am thrilled to be a part of the Curriculum Leadership team working closely with our Prep - 2 Literacy Leader Chris Caterall. Chris is a passionate educator and leader who shares in the joy of igniting a passion for learning in our students, particularly in the area of literacy.
I am so excited about our goals to enhance literacy learning outcomes at SOGS. Our goals for 2023 include:
I look forward to working closely with families to support the literacy learning of our students. My door is always open, please feel free to reach out should you have any questions, concerns or wish to say hello.
