Prep Update

Upcoming learning

During the next fortnight, Prep students will be undertaking learning in following areas:

Reading	Week 6 and 7: We will engage in daily Phonics lessons, focusing on the letter sounds of /a/ and /p/ following the Little Learners Love Literacy sequence. Each week, we will read a page of 'Milo's birthday surprise' to help us explore the sounds. We will be learning about 'Text to self' connections, as well as continuing to practice what independent reading looks like and increasing our reading stamina.
Writing	Week 6 and 7: We will engage in weekly fine motor activities. We will learn the correct letter formation of letters /a/ and /p/.
Maths	Week 6: We will be focusing on measuring mass and capacity through hands on experiences and developing the relevant vocabulary. Week 7: We will be focusing on statistics, including asking and answering yes/no questions and collecting data.
Inquiry	Week 6 and 7: Our focus will continue to be identity. What makes me unique? Who is in my family? How do I fit into the Hillsmeade community? Who are my classmates and what makes us all unique?
Social and Emotional	Week 6 and 7: We will be learning to identify the size of the problem and exploring reactions that fit each situation. This will support our focus on problem solving.

School photo day is Friday the 17th of March. There is information for ordering on Compass.

Please ensure library books are sent back to school on the day of your child's session. This will ensure they are able to borrow new books for the week.
