Hello HPS families!
It was terrific to meet with our new School Council for 2023 on Tuesday night. We officially welcomed our newest elected members, Kathryn Muscat, Michelle Denison, Rachel Vallance and Aryen Akbari.
At the AGM we elected new office bearers for 2023 and I would like to congratulate Lisa Holmes in being appointed to the position of School Council President. Alongside Lisa, we also elected a number of other roles including:
Vice President: Maree Mahaffy
Treasurer: Michelle Denison
Secretary: Stewart Johnson
Thank you and congratulations to each of you too!
At School Council we also approved Curriculum Day and pupil free Professional Practice Day dates. Students do not attend school on the following dates, however OSHC will be available for all dates except Dec 20.

This year we have altered the timing of requests for parent payments. Rather than collating it in with school expenses at the end of last year, we decided to move the request for parent payments until Term 1, 2023. On Tuesday 7th March, School Council approved the parent payment arrangements for 2023, so please stay tuned for further information regarding how you can further contribute to your child's schooling this year.
Just a reminder to families that the colour black is not a part of our school uniform. Our school colours are predominantly red and navy blue with a hint of white. I encourage families to please ensure this when purchasing items such as shorts, pants and under garments that can be seen.
We are excited to announce the appointment of Meagan McKneil as the teacher of 5B this year. Meagan will be working in 5B Wednesday and Friday for the rest of this term, commencing full time in Term 2. We thank Rebecca Borham for stepping in over the last 5-6 weeks and wish her well on her maternity leave for the rest of the year. Brigette Upjohn will be teaching 5 B on Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the rest of this term.
I'd also like to let the community know that we have restructured the Principal Team slightly for the rest of Term 1. Mark Cooper has been a Learning Specialist at HPS since January 2022. He has now taken an Acting Assistant Principal role with us and will be overseeing many facets of the school. This addition to the team means that sub school coordination is being updated as follows:
We look forward to working with Mark in his new role.
On Friday 24th March we are running our first parent volunteer training for 2023. This will run from 9 -10am in the library. To assist in classrooms, all parents must complete the training and have a valid Working With Children's Check.
Please register HERE to participate in the training.
Further training may be offered throughout the year, based on the level of interest at this first event.
Next Friday 17th March will be the formal badge presentations for our 2023 Student Leaders. This will be held during the regular Friday assembly and we encourage all family members to attend. See you there!
