Reminder

All students should have a sunsmart hat each day at this time of year. This is particularly important on days when they have PE or sport. We will always find a way for students without a hat to be involved in modified activities in the shade but their participation is limited to shady areas so… don’t forget the hat!

Inter school sport

Our first week of summer sport friendly matches takes place this Friday. Our grade 5 and 6 students be competing in friendly matches each week against other local schools

Sport finals

We have a busy sports program over the next month with many teams involved in finals. The upcoming finals are:

Basketball –Senior boys Hooptime finals on 8th Nov

Girls and mixed Volleyball – Kingston Division Finals on 31st Oct

Our year 3 / 4 Hooptime All Star girls and boys teams will also compete in finals on 11th November

Athletics

We had a number of students qualify for the recent Southern Metropolitan Region Athletics meet.

Inez B in Discus.

Hugo S in 800m and 1500m.

Finn C in Discus and Shot Put.

Hugo qualified for the State final in 1500m and came 8th overall. A photo of Hugo competing in the state final is below.

Well done to these students on their excellent results.

Junior House Sport – save the date

Junior House Sports will take place on 6th December. This is a fun event for all Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students. Many parents and grandparents enjoy coming to watch and support this event each year. More information will be sent home in the coming weeks.

It’s the final week of Walk to School

Time flies when you’re having fun walking, riding and scooting to school! It’s already the last week of Walk to School so now is a great time to celebrate all of the students', and parents' fantastic efforts. In an age where it is increasingly common to lead sedentary lives one of the greatest lessons for a child’s lifelong health is to take the opportunity to do incidental exercise.

Incidental exercise is all of the little moments in a day when we do a small amount of activity as part of life, for example

choosing to take the stairs instead of a lift;
walking to the train station instead of driving;
parking the car a few blocks from work or school and walking the last little bit.

All of these small bits of exercise add up to healthier bodies.

Last week we celebrated Walk to School month with a special morning tea of fresh fruit provided by City of Stonnington and Prahran Market.
