Spotlight: Holiday Screen-time

The year is winding down and we now find ourselves beginning to look ahead to the holidays and 2022! The summer holidays is one of the best times of the year. A time to switch off devices, spend time outside in the sunshine, and catch up with family and friends. Despite the extra light in the days and the special events that come with the holiday break, this doesn’t stop children from wanting their technology fix.

We’ve found some suggestions and tips that you might use to support your kids in having a healthy and positive technology time over the holiday break.

Family Zone have an article that suggests finding healthy and screen-time activities. They have found a range of apps that prompt kids to Get Active, Get Creative and Get Mindful

The Cyber Safety Project have also developed a handy Holiday Digital Balance Challenge. While there are only 2 weeks of suggested activities, it promotes a balance of screen-time and active activities away from screens. You might even like to create your own version, sprinkling in a mix of creative and active activities that get students using technology in a positive way, while having a break from it too.
