Staff Retirements

Last Friday was the retirement function to acknowledge Robyn Gardiner (Admin), Carmel Brown (teacher) and Liz Barr, your principal for the last 11 years.

Albert Einstein said that imagination is even more important than knowledge. Could I have imagined what could be achieved during my time? Our school has grown in enrolments and teaching and learning and wellbeing and in facilities.

There have been challenges as you well know especially over the last 2 years. The great philosopher Dolly Parton said 'You cant have the rainbows without the rain'. Education has gone through significant change that no one could have imagined.

No one is born a great cook, One learns by doing.

I do believe that applies to leadership. We learn on the job. As leaders, we make mistakes and try to learn from them. Choosing the right people is an essential ingredient and they make a difference. This is what sustains us, what gets us up each day as hard as it gets, it is what makes a difference in our students lives. Right people, right time, right place. This is sometimes for a long time or a short time.

Our work with other schools reinforces quality practice and gives us the courage to keep going. We have been fortunate to be selected for grants and programs over the years that have challenged our thinking and practice. Our students in turn have benefitted from this.

There is always more to do – that is the nature of education.

I would like to thank leadership team with Kate McLeod and Marika Ferguson, Colleen Stavrakis, Meg Hubbard, April Warfield and Marita Horvath for their continued support, energy, courage, wisdom and leadership and importantly laughter. Special thanks to my assistant principals: Ian Bunston. Then Marika Ferguson and Kate McLeod.

My family joined me for the function in the library and this is a reminder of the importance of family and friends in our lives. The gifts from the staff have found a special place in my garden.

I feel very privileged to be the principal of Rangeview and I look forward to my next adventures. I have been humbled by the many kind words from students, staff, school council and parents. Thank you. It has been a pleasure to serve our community.

Acting Principal for Term 1 2022

I have great pleasure in confirming that Ms Marika Ferguson will be the acting Principal in Term 1 2022 following my retirement at the end of January 2022. Marika will lead our school through the start up of a new year. We are currently looking at the replacement for her Assistant Principal role. This will be announced in the last week of the term.

The substantive principal position will be advertised in term 1. Our School Council will be briefed on the process by our SEIL (Senior Educational Improvement Leader) Richard Lambert at the February meeting. The selection panel will be formed and it is anticipated that the new principal for Rangeview will be announced at the end of the the term for a take up in term 2, 2022.

Colour Run on Friday

Information has been sent out to families about this day. Lots of fun for everyone and all students and staff will be taking part. We are calling on parents to help us with the afternoon event.

Student Reports available in the last week of term 4.

Semester student reports will be available on Monday 13 December after 4pm. The teachers have been working on these reports in readiness. Well done to our students who have demonstrated key learning achievements. Our leadership team has been reviewing the data both at team and class levels.

Students and Staff Netball Game

Students and staff played an entertaining game in mixed teams to the delight of parents, students and staff. Great fun with a fast paced game and most importantly, no one was injured. Congratulations to the Green and Blue teams. It was pleasing to see such events be offered. It is a reminder of our recovery and a return to a level of normality.

Grade 6 Graduation next Tuesday 14 December

Dance rehearsals and speeches being prepared for another grade 6 graduation. It will be a mix of live outdoor and live streamed indoor event. In line with COVID safe practice, there will be limited numbers of adults attending in the hall and evidence vaccination status or medical exemption is required.

Our students have been enjoying the many opportunities afforded to them during these last weeks of term 4.

2022 Classes Transition for Grade 1 to Grade 6

Students will have a chance to meet their teacher for 2022 on Wednesday 15 December. This includes new students to our school.

Final Farewell

A fond farewell to students and families leaving Rangeview at the end of the year- thank you for your contribution to our school.

May this new year for all be less eventful and a wonderful time of recovery, reflection and resilience. Everyone I hope you have a safe and restful holidays, before your return in 2022.
