SMDP Athletics Carnival

WOW, what a week we have had! We held the Year 3-6 House Athletics Carnival on Friday the 19th of November and our Prep-Year 2 House Athletics Carnival on Monday the 22nd of November. The weather was sunny and calm for both days! The enthusiasm, positive sportsmanship and excitement was a fabulous example of the St Martin’s de Porres way of being! Well done to all students who participated on the day.

Friday the 19th Of November was sunny and warm. Everyone from Year 3-6 was excited and ready to rumble. We started with a sprints, went onto high jump then did long jump and lastly hurdles. We moved onto the 400m after lunch and went onto the chicken throw and shot put and to finally finish it off, we did a Year 3 - 6 relay. At the halfway mark the score was extremely tight with a 1 point difference between 1st and 2nd which was yellow and red. Red then smashed out the rest of the events! The final score were; in 4th place was green house with 489, 3rd was blue house with 494, 2nd was yellow house with 499 and 1st was red house with 504 points. Red house captain is Yasmin. The House Spirit Award went to the blue house sport leader Zohair and his blue team. It was a fantastic day and thanks to Phil and Sophie for organising the day! - Year 6 School Captain - Dom

On Monday the House Athletics Carnival was held for all the Junior students. The Juniors include the Preps, Grade 1’s and Grade 2’s. On the day, the things the students did were Sprints, Hurdles, Vortex throw, the Obstacle Course and lastly the Egg and Spoon relay race. Yellow won the House Spirit Trophy Award. Everyone had a great time and received a well done ribbon at the end of the day! - Natalie 2E
