Over the last few weeks, our team has been working on our suggestion box which is currently up and running and is located in the student reception area. We have already received a good handful of suggestions that our team have already begun working on and finding ways to implement! So please put in any ideas that you may like to suggest!

These are the outcomes:

“Shorts 4 girls”

This is in the process of being organised by the College uniform committee.

“We want balls to play with at recess and lunch, eg football, basketball, etc.”

“We want some more good balls”

Balls are available in Pioneer Hall and the Basketball Court. We will email Mr. Lumsden to ask for them to be good and pumped up!

“I suggest happiness and love – oh and maybe something like Funday Fridays at recess and lunch”

Look out for students on a roving mic with some tunes in the yard over the coming weeks!

“Green bins for food scraps”

Youth Ministry are working on getting food scrap bins in classrooms as a part of their work on Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si - Care for our Common Home.

Celebrating Catholic Education Week!

This week our student leadership team all spoke at our liturgy about Catholic Education Week.  What is Catholic Education Week? Well, Catholic Education Week is a faith-based initiative, and it is an opportunity to recognise the impact that Catholic schools make in school and the wider community. It focuses on the stories of Jesus, and encourages young people to become more compassionate members of society.

We asked our captains "What have you enjoyed most about your time at the College?"

Alessi Green - During my 6 years of high school, my favourite thing has always been participating in the SSV sports and competing for our school.

Grace Berryman - I have enjoyed attending the year 7 camp this year and running the trivia session to welcome them all into our school community and teach them what our school is about. Also, creating and receiving suggestions, I like that we are able to connect with students in different year levels and hear their ideas.

Jeffrin Mathew - During my time at Mary Mackillop I’ve had so many fantastic opportunities handed to me, things like SSV, and leadership opportunities throughout junior and middle school but my personal favourite of the things we’ve done at this college are school camps. From a fun few days out at Phillip Island in Year 7 to the leadership retreats in years 11 and 12, I have had unbelievable fun getting to know everyone in my year level and being able to relax for a few days. These camps gave me the opportunity to develop my social skills, get out of my comfort zone and enjoy being in different environments. Catholic education week really highlights how good we have it here at Mary Mac!
